The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Organised Flailing!

FRIDAY

The first trailer with footage for “The Day of the Doctor” leaked all over the internet. And while it was since taken down, geeks managed to scrutinize it enough to put together a list of  the trailer’s “10 most exciting moments”.

Anyway, here’s the official trailer uploaded by BBC who won’t get deleted~

Evangeline Lilly talks with EW about her hesitation on taking the role of Tauriel in The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.

I did have to hesitate and go, ‘Whoa, people are going to hate me’. But I really couldn’t refuse. It was just too good to say no to.

Orlando Bloom also talks to EW, but he mentions how Legolas ain’t gonna hook up with Tauriel (which is good, because his one true love is Gimli), at least not in the way we think? And then he talks about how he thinks Elves have sex, because why not?

Elves are eternal in their thinking and their being, so a love story would almost belittle the idea of what the relationship would be. Their connection is a very deep elven feeling that’s done more done in looks than in words. I always imagined if elves were to make love, they’d probably be tantric lovers. Because if you’re living forever, you’re not in a hurry.

Habemus Star Wars: Episode VII release date: December 18, 2015. This is what Disney chairman Alan Horn had to say:

We’re very excited to share the official 2015 release date for Star Wars: Episode VII, where it will not only anchor the popular holiday film going season but also ensure our extraordinary filmmaking team has the time needed to deliver a sensational picture

Our Khaleesi could be Sarah Connor! Yep, Emilia Clarke will test for the role for the new Terminator movie, directed by Alan Taylor. For Kyle Reese (the dude from the future that ended up being John Connor’s father), we got Garrett Hedlund also testing. That’s… so bland! Oh well, talking about John Connor, Taylor totally wants John Hardy for the role, but there hasn’t even been a meeting yet. Also, Arnold Schwarzenegger will be back as a Terminator robot… which is kinda strange because why will we get a robot disguised as an old dude?

Talking about Alan Taylor, here’s what he has to say about a possible director’s cut of Thor: The Dark World (yes, please… an extended edition even… like LotR and The Hobbit!):

Maybe if you start the lobbying right now you can build up enough demand that Marvel will have to respond. I think it’s always the case with these big movies that that happens, and it’s painful to me because I absolutely love, love, love, love a lot of the stuff that fell by the wayside. Some of it was Malekith. You saw a lot more into the relationship between him and Algrim.

And because Kevin Feige will always have something to say, here’s his opinion on Thor being their most “diverse” franchise:

I wouldn’t say we necessarily said, “The Thor franchise will be our most diverse!” […] In the case of Thor, it was just casting the best people for the part. Ken Branagh had the idea to cast Idris Elba as Heimdall and we didn’t blink at that chance to do it. Adewale, I think he read for the part, but ended up being by far the best actor for Algrim. So it was just focusing on the most talented person for the job.

On another interview about that movie, Tom Hiddleston gives a shout-out to my favourite Loki-centric comic (that doesn’t feature Kid Loki):

There’s an amazing comic [Loki, first published in 2004] that explores what happens when Loki ends up as king of Asgard, achieved all he’s ever wanted, and his life is empty and devoid of color and all life because there is nothing to fight for anymore.

And finally, here’s some talk about that cameo on Thor: The Dark World. You know the one~ Read all about it here, because it is very spoilery. And I really hope Hiddles participation in it makes it to the DVD just as he claims it will be.

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, here’s Loki arguing with kids in a parody of AT&T’s It’s Not Complicated spots for Comedy Central.
