The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: One Last Time!

THURSDAY

Christmas time is getting closer and closer. That means we get a new trailer for Doctor Who‘s Christmas Special “Last Christmas”!

I don’t know about you, but Capaldi uttering “who you gonna call?” just makes me answer “Ghostbusters!” And with that these couple of news: Seems Rebel Wilson met with her former Bridesmaids director Paul Feig about the female lead Ghostbusters reboot and she’s very interested in being a part of that! Another interested lady is, who also had a meeting with Feig. I hope they both make it!

Constantine hadn’t had the greatest time lately, what with it not getting a full season and no news on a second one. Yet star Matt Ryan seems very hopeful and thinks a shorter season is better anyway so there!

Thirteen episodes for a first season, lots of cable shows do that. Sometimes when you do 22 episodes, there’s lot of stuff in there you’re just kind of getting through. Hopefully if we got picked up for a second season, even if it was for 13, I’d be very happy with that. Also, I think from a production point of view and the point of view of the actors, if you’re doing 13 episodes, they’re going to be 13 great episodes, rather than 22 episodes where there are likely to be a few in there that aren’t that good.

Entertainment Weekly released retro-like “trading cards” that show the main players of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens characters. And most importantly, they reveal the names! Oscar Isaac is Poe Dameron, the sith with the new sword is Kylo Ren, Daisy Ridley is Rey, and John Boyega is Finn. Stormtroopers, X-Wings and The Millennium Falcon are still Stormtroopers, X-Wings and The Millennium Falcon. Also, the most adorable droid in the franchise (for now) is called BB-8!

Mark Hamill had a serious case of the feels when he saw the fan reactions for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer. That in turn gives me the feels~

The most moving aspect of them releasing that trailer was watching a [‘video’] of other people watching it. […] I actually got a lump in my throat watching that. To see so many people that happy was a thrill. And it’s hard to believe it’s a whole year away that we have to wait but I’m practicing my phrase, “You have to wait and see.” They asked me not to talk about it and I agreed but it’s hard. People want to know!

FRIDAY

Here’s the first clip of Agent Carter, where Peggy and her BFF/roommate are awesome and I love them already!

So the “Sony Hack” (or The Hackening as some call it). I haven’t talk much about it because frankly I didn’t care much for it except feeling sorry for the poor workers who got their personal info freed into the internet. But now we have geeky news about that said hack! And it’s all related to the possible Marvel/Sony agreement for Spider-Man. First, it seems that there were some talk but nothing came out of it to have Spider-Man in a cameo for Captain America: Civil War. We learn that through emails between the Russo brothers and ony Entertainment Chairman Amy Pascal. Also, they confirm they will indeed direct Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2. Sony also offers the Russo brothers produce future Spider-Man movies.

Also, there’s news about the Sinister Six movie and it’s frankly kinda dumb. There’s a possible team-up between Spider-Man (with the symbiote black suit) and the Sinister Six to fight agains possibly Carnage and then Spider-Man getting rid of said suit and whoever finds it becomes Venom. That’s not too bad… the bad part is that apparently Spider-Man discards the suit because the Sinister Six guys were making fun of him.Yep. Finally, it seems that if the Marvel/Sony things would have come to pass it would have meant a new Spider-Man (again) so bye-bye Andrew Gardfield. Another reboot was also addressed (OMG again!), but this time it won’t be an original story (thank gods).

Stephen Colbert interviewed Smaug the Magnificent, and thus it is the most magnificent interview ever! Yep, that’s Benedict Cumberbatch doing the voice, and I also applaud Peter Jackson and the whole CGI team!

Let’s finish this with good news! Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is already doing great at the international box office with $26.6 millions on opening day! Yay! I plan to help the international box office by watching as many times as my wallet allows~

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Nicholas Hoult (7), Dominic Monaghan (8), Judi Dench (9), John Malkovich (9), Kenneth Branagh (10) and Bill Nighy (12).
