The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: One Last Time!

MONDAY

Peter Jackson received his star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame! Actors Richard Armitage, Lee Pace, Evangeline Lilly, Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood witnessed the unveiling, alongside a crowd of 1000. Andy Serkis was also there and gave a nice speech~

James Gunn talked about Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and it seems everything is ready to start production! OK, he just said the script is ready and he is happy with it…but yay!

Well, I’m really inspired. The whole story is written. I’m very excited about it. And that’s where it is. But the story point for me is, in a lot of ways, the most difficult thing. I feel like it’s pretty strong. It’s constantly shifting, but I feel like it’s pretty strong. I’m excited about it.

Josh Brolin talked about his role as Thanos in Marvel movies, which will happen in 2016 and 2017 according to him. So maybe Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and definitely the Avengers: Infinity War movies.

The fact that it’s so, it’s like, Yeah in 2016 and ’17, what am I going to be doing? Oh, I’m going to be doing that,’ I’m very lucky in that way, man. I just get presented these things and I go wow, really? Why now and why this? The possibilities for Thanos are unlimited.

Josh Brolin also added that we have Marvel Studios Co-President Louis D’Esposito to thank for his role~ Dude seems quite chuffed with the idea of his character and that’s always nice to see.

I love the idea of Thanos… Ultimately, it’s Thanos against everyone. Why wouldn’t you do that?

Talking about chuffed Marvel actors, Chadwick Boseman is very happy with the idea of Black Panther action figures and Halloween costumes~

That’s one of the first things I thought about when we left the announcement event with Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans. I saw fans outside with the rendering of Black Panther and [as] I was signing them I was sitting there like, Oh my gosh! And we were close to Halloween, so over that week I saw people with Iron Man costumes, Captain America costumes, Spider-Man costumes, and I was like, ‘That’s going to happen [with Black Panther].’ It blew my mind.

Also, there are rumors that he may appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron, not in the movie itself but in an after credits scene~

And with all these happy dudes, it’s no wonder many more want to jump the Marvel train! First, we have Al Pacino, who confirmed he has met with Big Boss Kevin Feige. But what part could he play? Hero? Villain? Mentor? Villain? He didn’t say, but then again he may not want to chance it with the Marvel snipers~

Others interested but have not had any call from Feige yet are Shailene Woodley and Orlando Bloom! Seems almost being Mary Jane made Shailene want to be in a superhero movie… as long as it is Marvel. Ouch for DC!

I would love to be in a superhero movie if it was Marvel. Their movies are so much fun to watch. They take you on a ride. I love how they’re all interconnected.” “I respond to independent films when I watch movies, because I love to feel affected on a very human, stripped level, but there’s something about going to those big blockbuster films where you watch people fly across the sky and have long stretchy arms and supernatural powers… it’s a form of escapism. It’s like reading a very fictional book. I enjoy it.

As for Orlando, he was sitting with fellow Elves, Lee Pace and Evangeline Lilly, both now part of the Marvel family. He also wants it on that! Or at least “never say never!”

You know how we were going to get Krypton series, which is to Superman what Gotham is to Batman? Seems things are steadily moving forward. Syfy and Warner Horizon Television have teamed with David S. Goyer (Constantine) and Ian Goldberg (Once Upon a Time) to make it. Yeah, I am not that sure about that team. Here’s the official logo:

And the synopsys:

Krypton takes place years before the Superman legend we know, when the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This drama, which is in development, follows the Man of Steel‘s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.

According to rumors, there’s one notable Batman character who’s already dead by the time Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice happens~ Which makes me kinda sad since I like that character. I do know they explain his demise in the movie! OK, fine, I will stop pussyfooting around. It’s Commissioner Jim Gordon. Also, Alfred, awesome father figure that he is for Batman, tells him The Dark Knight a story as a metaphor for his conflic with Superman. Yep, just like in the Nolan movies~

The James Bond 007 official facebook page posted a picture to mark the first day of production on Spectre! Doesn’t say much but the British bulldog figurine is cute!

Besides the Jungle Books and Peter Pans, we have another theme this year! It’s the Final Girl trope! Yep, we are getting a movie and a TV series! The movie is called, well, Final Girl and stars Malin Ackerman and Taissa Farmiga, as a teenager who gets sucked into an ‘80s slasher movie. Now the TV series, called Scream Queens, is about an older veteran Final Girl collecting a group of younger Final Girls together to fight crimes with their ass-kicking surviving skills. And they have officially hired two lead actresses: Jamie Lee Curtis, of Halloween fame, and Emma Roberts of Scream 4 and American Horror Story. That looks promising, even if it’s from Fox. I hope it gets at least a full season dammit.
