The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: On a journey to the past~

Greetings, fellow fangirls and fanboys! This week EW regaled us a lot of articles and pictures on Star Wars: The Last Jedi, also concept arts from Thor: Ragnarok and Justice League. Also, Anastasia turns 20 and the composers had one more surprise for us! Here’s how the week started:

The first teaser of Pixar’s Incredibles 2 is basically a showcase of all of Jack-Jack’s powers and no actual plot of the film. And yes, he’s still a baby, and Mr. Incredible appears too. The film premieres on June 15, 2018.

Here’s a new clip from Doctor Who Christmas special “Twice Upon a Time”. Seems the Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi in his last episode with the role) clashes with his former self the First Doctor (David Bradley), at least as far as the interior decoration of the Tardis goes. Mark Gatiss is also there as a World War One soldier simply known as the Captain. Also, here’s everything you need to known about this Christmas special~

EW dropped the motherload with a Star Wars: The Last Jedi special, starting with four new covers, and 14 new images!

First, an article on Kylo Ren and Rey in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, where Kylo Ren thinks too much about Rey, and she couldn’t care less about him. Girl is busy trying to find her place in the universe and come into her powers. But will Kylo Ren get redemption or comeuppance? Director Rian Johnson also claims that “[Kylo Ren]’s a more complicated character than that and I think he deserves a more complicated story than that.” And Rey? He says she’s “trying to figure out how she fits into all this, much like any of us as we’re growing up, as we’re transitioning from childhood into adulthood.”

The other article is basically about Mark Hamill’s feels when boarding the Millennium Falcon again after all this time. And damn, those were strong feels!

It was sort of like visiting an old house that you lived in when you were a kid. I mean, I just welled up with emotion and I said, ‘I need to be by myself.

Henry Cavill talked about Justice League‘s different interpretation of Superman… or rather about finally getting to play damn Superman!

This movie highlights the qualities of Superman that exist in the comic books. That’s something I’ve always been very keen to highlight in the character. This rebirth provided the opportunity for me to play those characteristics.

Check out the trailer for the DC/CW TV crossovers, “Crisis on Earth-X”. It does looks exciting with all the heroes together… and there’s Nazi-punching!

Harley Quinn is getting a her ow 26-episode animated series on the still-untitled DC streaming service. The half-hour action-comedy Harley Quinn, which will feature some of her villain friends (and frenemies)… Please no Joker as a regular character. Poison Ivy can stay tho! Margot Robbie is being courted to voice the character.

Murder on the Orient Express may not be a great success, but apparently made money enough for Fox to put a sequel in development. Death on the Nile will be the next Agatha Christie novel adapted for the big screen. And of course Kenneth Branagh will return as director and as protagonist Hercule Poirot.

Laura Dern finally talked about her role of Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and it comes courtesy of EW! And we aren’t supposed to know whether we should trust her. Which sucks because I loved her younger self in the book Leia, Princess of Alderaan. Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) ain’t too sure about her, but that might be because she’s just so different from Leia. Dern says Holdo represents “stereotypes about women bosses”.

Like if she looks a certain way, she can’t achieve the job or she must be brazen. You know, all the different versions of what we label someone. I mean, there are reasons why I might look the way I look.
