The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Of Thrones and Princes~

TUESDAY

Let’s start with news about fairytale movies because why not? Beauty and the Beast will be the new Disney live action one. It’s actually called The Beast for now. So about his point of view? Nothing to do with Guillermo del Toro’s Beauty and the Beast that comes from Warner Bros where Emma Watson is playing Belle. Talking about Emma, seem the gal doesn’t want to be in Cinderella. But Hollywood doesn’t lose time and there’s already talk that Saoirse Ronan may be taking the role now.

Jenna-Louise Coleman confirms she will be a companion all through Doctor Who Series 8. Does this mean we’ll keep Matt Smith as Doctor? Nothing against him, but I am ready for a new one!

Here’s a couple of Sherlock Holmes-related news. First, Elementary will get a two hour season finale! Yay! And then, Benedict Cumberbatch, who was at the South Bank Show Awards receiving the TV Drama prize for Parade’s End, said this:

We’ve agreed to two more [series] but I could get into trouble for saying that. […] All I know at the moment is we’re doing these three [episodes of the upcoming series] and another three. I just don’t know what there is beyond that.

And then he talks about how awesome the new season is gonna be, etc. Of course, after he had time to breath, he realized what he says about a fourth season and totally backtracks. I may smack him but I could cut my hand with those cheekbones~

Anyway, my other British Prince, Tom Hiddleston was also at the South Bank Sky Arts Awards to receive his Times Breakthrough prize. He proceedes to fanboy over Daniel Day-Lewis:

He has always inspired me. The commitment he takes on every time he chooses to work, the kind of work he chooses – he has never ever been bad in my opinion and you can always see that he has given 110 per cent.

He also gets his picture taken with “on-screen Papa” Jeremy Irons, take a selfie and act like a general dork. One who is infuriatingly good-looking:

The full presentation and speech is here. Not the best quality but it’s worth it!

Karl Urban reunites with J.J.Abrams in show I will totally watch called Human, you know the buddy-cop action show with androids! And I am obviously not talkinga bout mobiles~ So, while he’s not being Dr. McCoy in Star Trek Into Darkness, Urban is:

John Kennex, a respected police officer who has shut down emotionally after a tragic mission left him critically injured. He is paired with Dorian (Common Law‘s Michael Ealy), an android detective who, ironically, has a better grasp of humanity than he does.

James McAvoy talks about Professor X in X-Men: Days of Future Past, and how everything is darker and that changes how his character behaves. All here’s his take on how the huge cast will look like:

It’s going to be a humongous cast. It’s going to be like the cast of the beach scenes in Saving Private Ryan but everyone’s a mutant and everyone you’ve seen in other movies before.

Two new spots of Jurassic Park 3D and I am grinning like a fool. They look fab! Just look at them and try not to smile. That T-Rex roar still gives me the shivers!

Talking about blasts from the past that make me grin like a fool, here’s Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods IMAX trailer (and some screengrabs).

Sadly, I don’t have IMAX, and we won’t even get Dragon Ball movie on the big screen either. Dammit, local distributors!
