The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Merc with a Mouth!

TUESDAY

Tom Hiddleston will star in Skull Island! Yep, that movie about the origins of King Kong. So, dinosaurs? Other giant Gorillas? Yeah, we don’t know much about this movie except that ordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer) will direct and Max Borenstein (Godzilla) wrote the first draft. Good for Hiddles tho’!

And now that we are talking about my Real Life Disney Prince, you know how he’s going to be in I Saw The Light, the Hank Williams biopic? In a weird twist of destiny, Chris Hemsworth will also star in a Hank Williams movie. It’s called I’ll Never Get Out of This World Alive and it’s based in a book where the dude who is rumored to have given Hank the final morphine dose that killed him… is now being haunted by his ghost. Yeah. So, I guess Chris Hemsworth can be the haunted guy? Not sure if he would be a good Hank Williams ghost. And now I need fanfic where Thor being haunted by the ghost of Loki… and there’s country music involved somehow.

Here we have the first image of Powers, the first TV drama of Sony PlayStation Network, based a comic book series by writer Brian Michael Bendis (who’s also an executive producer). No air date yet, but we will get 10 episodes in the first season. The plot? The classic veteran cop + rookie team-up, played by Sharlto Copley and Susan Heyward, but in a world where some people have superpowers. Here’s what Charlie Huston, the other execute producer, has to say:

It’s such a clever concept to try and imagine a real world where you actually have to deal with powers and how they impact society, and to do that through the lens of a cop drama.

Remeber The Tick? That 2001 superhero TV show back that only lasted one season? Well, Amazon is planning to resurrect it! A pilot is being planned! Creator Ben Edlund said indeed it may happen, and even said that original star Patrick Warburton could return. Talking about Warburton, this is what he had to say:

One thing about The Tick, he is an insane character. I guess he doesn’t have to be 29 years old like Thor. He’ll be 50 battling evil. I’d love to see what Ben Edlund’s new vision for it is. I think it will be different. Perhaps a little darker and a little edgier. We’ll see what happens.

So yeah, DC ain’t stopping with the comicbook TV series. Partnering once again with Fox, just like with Gotham, they have ordered a pilot for Lucifer, a Sandman character who also had his own comic series. It’s about the Lord of Hell getting bored, so he abandons ships and goes to LA to open a piano bar. Yep. He also looks like this so I expect a good-looking actor for the title role!

Here’s a lovely interview with Anthony Daniels and how he’s back as C3PO in Star Wars Episode VII and also his work in Star Wars: Rebels. Because he’s C3PO everywhere! From originals to prequels, from newest trilogy to animation! And if it can be done, he will suit up and not just do the voice! He’s that awesome~

There’s no way I would just do the voice. I also said that it can’t be the same suit. I will tell you that the team then got together and built a new suit. They made an entirely new look-a-like with changes that you will never notice [on screen] that made my life a lot easier. I can get it on and off very quickly.

WEDNESDAY

We might not have a Doctor Strange yet (since Joaquin Phoenix keep pussyfooting around that contract), but some websites claims they have a release date and it is July 8, 2016! Yes, please~

In other news, some fans have really good memorie and wicked talent! Here’s the fan-made storyboard version of the SDCC Ant-Man trailer (which we simple mortals have only heard the audio).

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies movie adaptation is still moving forward for better or worse. And we have casting news! Apparently, Matt Smith will be Mr. Collins, you know, the “conceited, pompous, narrow-minded, silly” clergyman who wants Elizabeth Bennett. Also, there’s Jack Huston as asshole in sheep’s clothing, Wickham~

Talking about Huston, dude will be Ben-Hur in, well, Ben-Hur. Yep, Hiddles decided to not do it. Also, Morgan Freeman will play Ildarin, the dude who teaches Ben-Hur to kick ass at chariot racing.

Warner and DC are doing a three-part animated miniseries called Justice League: Gods and Monsters Chronicles, and the online network Machinima has the exclusive rights. It’s based on Justice League: Gods & Monsters, an original animated film that will launch weeks after the miniseries. The premise is an alternate reality where Superman, Batman and Wonder Women are kind of assholes~

Bryan Fuller talks about Hannibal, Hannigram fanfiction and the Fannibals, because he knows what’s what!

Of course, that’s not to say that they’re going to be falling into bed—I’ll leave that to the online community. They’re doing what we’re doing with the show, because the show for me is very much fan fiction of these characters that I adore. So that’s why I’m very respectful and appreciative of fan fiction and fan art that positions these characters in ways you wouldn’t see them on the show.
