The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Makeover of the Gods!

TUESDAY

Here are some production start news from the MCU! According to My Entertainment World, Ant-Man and The Wasp will start production on July 6 of this year, to be released exactly a year later on July 6, 2018. Same source claims that Captain Marvel will start production on January 8, 2018, to be released on March 8, 2019. It’s also rumored that we’ll hear more details, like who’s the director, at Comic Con this July.

Welp, Simon Kinberg confirmed that the X-Force movie will feature Deadpool and Cable! Finding the Perfect Cable has become at least 50% more imporant!

We are working hard on New Mutants, Gambit with Channing Tatum, Deadpool 2 and the new X Force movie where Deadpool is alongside Cable and other main characters.

Ridley Scott said “If you really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six”. Man, that’s a lot for a 79-year-old director! That said, he addedd that “You don’t want a two-year gap. So I’ll be ready to go again next year. ‘I’ll Be Ready to Go Again Next Year'” Yep, we can end up with 12 movies in the Alien franchise… not counting the the two Alien vs. Predator spin-offs, of course.

Jason Isaacs joined Star Trek: Discovery as Captain Lorca. And he may be Captain, but won’t be the lead. As previously noted Sonequa Martin-Green is playing Lieutenant Commander Rainsford, who will be the focal character. Rounding up the cast, we have James Frain as Spock’s dad Sarek, Doug Jones as science officer Saru and Michelle Yeoh as captain of the Shenzhou. I promise I will be more enthuastic when they finally have a definite premiere date dammit!

Here’s our first look at Marvel’s Rogue One comicbook adaptation. The first of this 6-issue adaptation, which will feature story material not seen on the big screen, will be on sale will April 5.

WEDNESDAY

Entertainment Weekly gave its cover to Thor: Ragnarok and OMG everybody looks not-so-good here! And I don’t mean the makeover for Thor or the look of the ladies (even if it’s a bit underwhelming). Then again, EW has some experience of regaling us with some of the ugliest covers from proffesional magazines. That said, this is very interesting. Chris Hemsworth is happy to lose the wig (“It was nice not to have to sit in the makeup chair for that hour each morning. It felt like a rebirth for me as the actor but also as the character.”), Cate Blanchett says her character Hela is accidentally unleashed from her prison and the “locked away for millennia getting more and more cross” is giving me Rita Repulsa vibes.

But hey we got some first look photos too, thanks to EW, and they look better than the cover… even if I still have my dislikes. Thor looks like a gladiator and that’s OK. Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie tho… stop it with the boob armor dammit! Loki looks great drinking his appletini. Cate Blanchett’s Hela looks like an Evanescence fangirl. And finally we have Jeff Goldblum’s Grandmaster, who made some interesting make-up choices.

Talking about first picture, here’s the one from Jurassic World 2, where a young girl standing in the center of a museum-like room full of the skeletons of dinosaurs. Please, don’t let this be such a flashforward that this is Bryce Dallas Howard and Chris Pratt’s charaters’ daughter. Pretty please?

Live-action plays of popular anime are always something that have interested me. I feel theather is a better media to show off all the anime’s exaggerated attitudes through acting than film. So yay for those! Anyway, this year comes a play from the award winning franchiseInuYashafrom April 6 to 15 at The Galaxy Theatre in Tokyo. Also, here’s there of the most important characters in full costume and OMG they look amazing!
