The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Let the games commence

TUESDAY

Christopher Nolan said good-bye to the Bat-franchise…

Michael, Morgan, Gary, Cillian, Liam, Heath, Christian . . . Bale. Names that have come to mean so much to me. My time in Gotham, looking after one of the greatest and most enduring figures in pop culture, has been the most challenging and rewarding experience a filmmaker could hope for. I will miss the Batman. I like to think that he’ll miss me, but he’s never been particularly sentimental.

I shed a tear.

In other news, Christian Bale is an actual hero. He met with seven patients injured in the shooting at the midnight showing of The Dark Knight Rises, and spent about 10 minutes with each of them.

Anyway, here’s a beautiful image of all the extra stuff that comes with the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Phase One. Oh, lovely prop replicas, how I love thee!

And then, OMG Agent Coulson Toy!

There’s also a Chitauri one, but whatevs. It’s Agent Coulson! And it comes with Captain America’s cards. Thank you Hot-Toys! Even Clark Gregg is giving a fanboy squee.

Something I heard rumors about from Tolkien fans days ago, Peter Jackson wants to turn The Hobbit into a trilogy… and I guess he will need to add more stuff from the appendices. Still, as much as I love Tolkien’s book and Martin Freeman’s hedgehoggy face, I feel three movies is way too much… and I will still watch them. Damn you, Peter Jackson.

Here’s an interesting analysis about Tom Hiddleston based on interviews, pictures and even his writing. The English is a bit broken (the author is French) but you can understand it all just fine.

Finally, BBC Two brings the drama!

So we have Parade’s End (Benedict Cumberbatch plays English aristocrat Christopher Tietjens from the decline of the Edwardian era to the end of the First World War, there’s also Rebecca Hall and Miranda Richarson), The Girl (about Alfred Hitchcock and his obsessive relationship with Tippi Hedren, with Toby Jones and Sienna Miller), The Fall (psychological thriller with Gillian Anderson playing a Detective Superintendent traying to catch a serial killer), Dancing On The Edge (about a black jazz band in ’30s London, with Chiwetel Ejiofor), The Hour 2 (Dominic West and Ben Whishaw will return to the story of a ’50s BBC newsmagazine show) and Top Of The Lake (Elisabeth Moss is a detective investigating the disappearance of a 12-year-old pregnant daughter of a local drug lord).

Damn, I have lots to watch! And by ‘damn’, I mean ‘yay’.

  1. wow, I’ve been waiting for Dancing on the Edge for a while. Yay Phil Coulson toy!

I love Spike Lee. I love OldBoy. I wonder if I’ll love them together…? This is one remake I’m more willing to give a chance because, yes, it’s an American remake, but Spike Lee doens’t sugarcoat ANYTHING! This shall be interesting and I’m sort of a little bit excited.

However, I’m less than enthused about the Sleepy Hollow and Battle Royale TV treatments, ESPECIALLY Battle Royale! You don’t just put something like that on CW (the albino offspring of the WB and UPN) and expect it to be good. Gosh… and WHY didn’t they think HBO was a better idea?

I’m also less enthused about the new Silent Hill if the first trainwreck of an attempt is anything to go by. Also, every game after the third one (well, and The Room… maybe) was pretty much not worth it. And since they decided to try to cram all of the first three games into the first movie (I mean, hello, the almighty Pyramid Head doesn’t appear until the second game), I wonder what they’re gonna try to do this time around. Still mad that they decided to use the cliche of a mom trying to rescue her child rather than a single father… that story line was just so much more interesting. The dynamic was completely different. Anyway, I’m going on an SH rage, which no one really needs. Plus, according to you and my brother the atmosphere DOES, at least, live up to expectation. I’ll check out the trailer and think about seeing this one.

Anyway, your fangirliness is always a blessing to my otherwise meaningless existence. THANKS!!!! :)
