The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Justice Will Prevail!

MONDAY

We did it, kids! Young Justice will return for a third season! Warner Bros. Animation announced that it has begun production. There are no news yet on which network Young Justice will air, but the rumors are leaning towards Netflix. Sam Register, the president of Warner Bros. Animation, had this to say:

The affection that fans have had for Young Justice, and their rallying cry for more episodes, has always resonated with us, We are excited to bring the show back for this loyal fanbase and to provide an opportunity for new viewers to discover this excellent series.

The fans are already celebrating!

Just like it happened with Luke Cage, Daredevil and Jessica Jones will get vinyl soundtracks for all you retro geeks! Thanks, Mondo.

Casting news from Stranger Things! Sean Astin and Paul Reiser, both stars in 80s films references in the Netflix series, The Goonies and Aliens respectively, will be there too! Checking up their characters descriptions, specially Reiser’s, seems some sinister clean-up will happen in season 2.

Astin will play Bob Newby, a kind-hearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack.

Reiser will play Dr. Owens, a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a “clean-up” assignment who is tasked with containing the events of last year.

It seems J.R.R. Tolkien biopic about his early life, Middle Earth, has found its director: James Strong. Not bad, considering this BAFTA-nominated director has worked on Broadchurch, Downton Abbey and Doctor Who.

There was this roundtable about Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, and certain things were revealed: Dumbledore will definitely be in the sequel, and it will take place in Paris and other locations in the UK… so maybe Hogwarts? For a little bit at least?

We got a new international poster for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, some cool behind-the-scenes snaps, and a most amazing portrait of Mon Mothma!

Here’s a lovely featurette for Moana, about the Making of Moana. I appreaciate all the research from the creative team! Plus here’s another clip where you can keep appreciating Lin-Manuel Miranda’s awesome soundtrack, with the song “We Know The Way”. Yep, that’s him in the lead vocals! This song is co-composed by Opetaia Foa’i, a songwriter from Western Samoa, who can also be heard in the back-up vocals. How come just one minute of this song already gave me the feels?
