The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: It’s time to play the music

MONDAY

Continuing with the recent Disney tradition to turn their animated movies into live-action, the newest one is Mulan! And talking about that, as soon as the news broke, fans were hollering for Ming-Na Wen to reprise her role from the 1998 animated film. She was quite pleased and told fans to shout out Disney about it on her twitter!

Maisie Williams will guess star in Doctor Who! We don’t know what role she’s going to play but Troll King Steven Moffat said “she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways”.

Casting news for the Arrow/The Flash spin-off! First, habemus Hawkgirl! And it’s Ciara Renée! Who I don’t know but apparently does cool plays at Broadway~ cast as Hawkgirl in Flash-Arrow spin-off. Second, Arthur Darvill, Doctor Who companion, will also be in the Arrow/The Flash spin-off as time traveler Rip Hunter. The character is described as “a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit”.

Here are some Daredevil character posters ahead of its April 10th premiere on Netflix! These are my favourite ones:

Elizabeth Olsen talked about Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Here’s she talking about her costume who’s totally unlike the comicbook one, except for the use of the color red.

Well, the first thing Joss ever said to me before I even got the job when we were first meeting, he said, ‘When you look at the images, look at the comics, know that we are not making you look like that. You will not have to wear bathing suits or look like a porn star’ [Laughs]. So that made me feel great and then Alex [Alexandra Byrne] –who’s our costume designer– is really clever in being able to take the images and the iconic ideas of these characters and these comics on these cartoons, and adapt them to some sort of modern day world. Like how would it actually exist but still make it feel like it’s not of this world in a way.

Seems we are totally getting Angel in X-Men: Apocalypse if this piece of production art shared on Bryan Singer’s intagram is to be believed:

Guess he’ll be born way before in the new timeline for some reason.

We are getting a Spock documentary, courtesy of Leonard Nimoy’s own son! Here’s Adam Nimoy had to say about For the Love of Spock:

This will be a tribute to my dad and Spock. We have plenty to work from because my dad loved telling stories and he was very fond of the role. […] My father wrote two books – ‘I Am Not Spock’ and ‘I am Spock’ – and we’ve got lots of recordings so there’s plenty for us to work with.
