The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Inhumans, big & small

MONDAY

OMG! Inhumans is no longer a part of MCU, phase 4 or otherwise! But if you think it means we won’t longer see a live-action adaptation of said franchise, think again. Inhumans is coming to ABC in September 2017! Yep, a TV series. But, and this is unprecedented, Inhumans will exclusively show its first two episodes on IMAX screens for a two-week window. The series will subsequently air on ABC with “additional exclusive content that can only be seen on the network”. Yep, they are making you watch it twice, so it better be good! Big bosses at Marvel seems confident it will work tho. Here are the words from Dan Buckley, President, Marvel Television, Publishing & Brand:

We’re happy to see this unique deal come together, working with our partners. In an ever-changing world of distribution and consumption, it’s very exciting to be part of a groundbreaking initiative that takes us to the forefront of this evolution.

Also, just so you don’t think this Inhumans show will be about new characters or a spin-off of Agents of SHIELD, where they started exploring the concept of Inhumans in TV (or movies), we are getting Black Bolt and the rest of the Inhuman Royal Family. Here’s more info about them in this link.

Y: The Last Man TV adaptation has finally found a showrunner! Michael Green, who is currently co-showrunning Starz’s adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s American Gods alongside Bryan Fuller, will also co-write the script for Y: The Last Man alongside comic book creator Brian K. Vaughan. OK, that’s fine and dandy but are they no more showrunners in Hollywood? Like, will he be able to juggle both shows if both end up airing during the same time-frame.

Darth Maul, one of Star Wars‘ most interesting yet seriously over-rated characters, is getting a comicbook. The five-issue Marvel Comics miniseries Star Wars: Darth Maul will debut in February, and it will show us his younger days before his short-lived appearance in Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace. If you want to see a more mature version of the character, you can check that old cockroach in Star Wars Rebels.

TUESDAY

In good yet (even more) frivolous news of the day, the trailer for Beauty and the Beast dethroned Fifty Shades Darker as the most viewed trailer in 24 hours. YES! Also, ugh, internet. Fifty Shades Darker, really? Can’t believe they took the record from the Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer! Beauty and the Beast was viewed 127.6 million times in one day, including all digital platforms like YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc.

Here’s the trailer for Justice League Dark. And yes, it has R-rating due to “disturbing violence”… just like The Killing Joke, and I really hope it is better than that. This new DC animated film is expected to hit DVD, Blu-ray, and Digital HD in early 2017.
