The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Indominus Box Office!

TUESDAY

Marvel, o rather Kevin Feige, showed how good sports they are by congratulating Jurassic World in becoming the “new opening weekend king” with an awesome artwork, done by Andy Park. And yes, that T-Rex is holding Mjölnir… because she is worthy!

Seems we are getting a Maleficent sequel. Which makes no freaking sense! Sure, Maleficent made a lot of money, and money is what all studios care about, but still! At least they have the same scriptwriter who, while not spectacular, was serviceable. I expect they get Angelina Jolie back! So hurry up and makes her sign that contract, Disney! Don’t be cheap now!

Penny Dreadful got renewed for Season 3 in 2016! Yep, it will be 9 episodes and just like Season 1 and Season 2 it will shoot on location in Dublin, Ireland. Season 2 will end on July 5!

We are totally getting Neil Gaiman’s American Gods TV adaptation from Starz! And yes, Bryan Fuller and Michael Green are the writers and showrunners! And with that, the search of main character Shadow has also begun! According to hints from Fuller, Gaiman (who also produces) hopes to announce a key number of cast members at San Diego Comic-Con.

I am thrilled, ‎scared, delighted, nervous and a ball of glorious anticipation. The team that is going to bring the world of American Gods to the screen has been assembled like the master criminals in a caper movie: I’m relieved and confident that my baby is in good hands. Now we finally move to the exciting business that fans have been doing for the last dozen years: casting our Shadow, our Wednesday, our Laura…

WEDNESDAY

Here’s the sneak peek of the Jurassic World limited edition Blu-ray gift set. And it comes with dinosaurs! It’s a statue of the fight between the Tyrannosaurus Rex and the Indominus Rex. Sadly, Blue the Velociraptor is missing. But still, this is awesome!

UK bookmakers seems to think that Damian Lewis will be the next Bond. To which I say… eh, no thanks? His odds are of 6/4. Other favourites include Idris Elba (5/2), Tom Hardy (4/1), Henry Cavill (5/1), and Michael Fassbender (7/1). And while I like all of the favourites over Damian Lewis, my “most favourite” is still Idris Elba! Sadly, Idris himself doesn’t think it will happen. Damn!

Do you know we are getting a Groucho Marx biopic? And that Rob Zombie will direct it?! Well, that’s… something else for sure! The movie will be about Groucho’s final years, and it’s based on a book that his personally secretary published back in 1996, called Raised Eyebrows: My Years Inside Groucho’s House. Since I don’t recall Rob Zombie directing anything but horror movies, this could be interesting. Good or bad, we will see.

Before we get to watch Inside Out, we had the not traditional Pixar’s short film. This time it was Lava: a 6 minute musical about love story a million years in the making! It’s about a volcano yearning love (or love-a/lava) and it is quite obvious that director James Ford Murphy was inspired by Israel Kamakawiwo’ole’s cover of “Over The Rainbow” (which is also my favourite version of the song BTW). Here’s an interview about the inspiration, research and process that created Lava.

So Mark Ruffalo seemed to be the only Avenger (besides Thor) not appearing in Avengers 2.5, a.k.a. Captain America: Civil War . But apparently he is in the movie too… because RDJ said so dammit!

At this point, I’m told that I’m in it by Robert, which I’ll take as biblical, but I just haven’t heard or seen from production yet. If Robert Downey, Jr. says I’m in ‘Captain America,’ I’m in ‘Captain America’ dammit. And I will wait for the day that my call sheet shows up at my doorstep or my script.

The Punisher is totally going to be in Daredevil, and, according to Marvel, he’s going to be a vigilante who aims to clean up Hell’s Kitchen by any means necessary. Yep, that includes not caring about lethal results. So Jon Bernthal (which we loved to hate as Shane in The Walking Dead) is appropriatedly honored and thrilled to get the role, and he’s totally looking forward to actually start playing him. Welcome to the Marvel family!
