The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Hooked an a feeling~

FRIDAY

Happy Birthday, Madonna!

Rumors has it that both Palpatine and Obi Wan will be in the new Star Wars movie… say what? Yep, they will both be “Force ghost”, you know, like the end of Star Wars: The Return of the Jedi. But with Ewan McGregor? That kinda makes no sense since the Obi Wan ghost was Alec Guinness.

Here’s an article saying that Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor could totally be like Malcolm Tucker. Ok, just a bit. I do hope he gets to keep his accent though!

What would a Tucker-flavoured Doctor be like? Not a Downing Street ‘enforcer,’ but perhaps a bit of an authoritarian. Quick to criticise authority, too, having little patience for self-inflated bureaucrats, narrow-minded ministers or red tape in general. Probably hangs around with journalists and drives an expensive car.

Here’s a Mark Millar “social media interview“, where he says interesting things when he’s not being a douchebag. He doesn’t think the comic-book genre is going to die anytime soon.

this year has been fascinating because just when it looked like there were too many comic adaptations coming out, the only things that have survived are the comic-book adaptations […] I’ve got this theory that it ties up with economic cycles and economic cycle predictions are catastrophic for the rest of this decade but it’s going to take us years to get back to 2008 levels – so in bad times, people want superheroes.

I am not the only one who never wants to see Loki go! here’s MTV writing about possible uses for Loki in the MCU, including minor roles in a possible Doctor Strange movie, and Iron Man 4 (if it were to happen), Captain America and even Thor movies with Lady Loki, also in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

OMG, Hugh Jackman is not going to sign a deal for 100 million bucks for 4 Wolverine movies! Shame on you!

I would never do that. I’ve never done that mainly because, for the fans and for me, each time I’ve gone around there’s been a really good reason to do it and I don’t know what that reason is from here. I’m in the middle of making this and I just promoted the other and I’m really happy with the way The Wolverine came out

Simon Pegg trolls the internet by just posting a image of himself pointing at Ant-Man in front of an Avengers mural at Marvel offices. Cue all the fandom wondering if he’s going to appear on the movie. What he had to say in his defense?

FFS the Internet, all I did was point at the central character in my dear friend’s next movie, because I’m excited for him. #iamantman […] Oh wait, I fucked up that hashtag. It was supposed to be #iamnotantman.

It’s the 50th anniversary of The Avengers, and John Cassaday will help us celebrate with five variant covers for Uncanny Avengers #19, where you can see the many line-ups of the team since the 60s.

Finally, let’s talk about how dissapointing this year has been for sci-fi original films~

You can suggest that none of them appealed to the masses or they were sold poorly, but it doesn’t change the fact that, at one point, four original movies had people excited and then failed to do any business whatsoever. It’s no wonder we were all excited for 2013, but now I’m reminded why Hollywood doesn’t take chances on movies like this […] The small, hard sci-fi flick Europa Report has been earning rave reviews during its VOD release and the upcoming Korean film Snowpiercer has been earning rave reviews from across the world. But Europa Report never got a chance on the big screen and Snowpiercer is being threatened with massive cuts by its American distributor. There’s light at the end of all of this, but it’s still looking awfully dim.

Ouch dude!

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, here’s Benedict Cumberbatch narrating Jerusalem, and awesome looking IMAX 3D documentary about well… Jerusalem~
