The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Goodbye, green giant~

TUESDAY

Dammit Marvel, stop turning Civil War II into a bloodbath! Another major character death comes to Civil War II #3. AND IT’S THE FREAKING HULK! OK, it was Bruce Banner, but still! And do you know who did the deed?! Freaking Hawkeye, man! Writer Brian Michael Bendis knows fans and his Hawkeye writer friends may be offended. And does he care? He does not. As long as “that everything that happens in this issue is in character when you discover the hows and whys and wheres”. And what does Marvel Editor in Chief Axel Alonso has to say for himself about this travesty?

This is uncharted territory for us. Only two things are for certain: it will take a long, long time for our heroes to come to terms with his loss, and the circumstance surrounding his death will leave a huge scar on the superhero community.

Fox has ordered a pilot of X-Men based TV series. The yet untitled series will be an “action-adventure” with two human parents whose child develops mutant powers. OK, that’s kinda interesting. And I do wonder if they will use some of the (many) lesser known mutants and X-Men.

Forced to go on the run from a hostile government, the family joins up with an underground network of mutants and must fight to survive.

The Flash will give us Kid Flash in season 3! Grant Gustin (a.k.a. Barry Allen) posted a promo pic of Keiynan Lonsdale’s Wally West, on his instagram. We all knew it will happen, but now it is official! Wally will appear as Kid Flash in episode 1 of season 3.

A new book in the Aftermath trilogy is here! Aftermath: Life Debt by Chuck Wendig is an in-canon Star Wars novel, sequel of Aftermath and prequel of Aftermath: Empire’s End. And the most important thing about it? So much new info on General Ginger! I mean, General Hux. You know, the space nazi played by Domhnall Gleeson, who gave that lovely speech before destroying the Hosnian system. And guess what! He’s a literal bastard! Dude is not the son of Commandant Brendol Hux with his (possibly?) lovely wife, but with a kitchen servant! And General Hux name is Armitage! And it is canon that Brendol Hux is a crappy parent! Now him and Kylo Ren can stop their rivalry and bond over their daddy issues and the fact that they were “accidents”!

WEDNESDAY

OMG! Warner Bros. has filed trademark for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child film and merchandising! I think they should wait for the movie though. And besides we still need to watch the promised Fantastic Beast trilogy. That will give us some time to make Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton age enough!

Here’s our first look at Bill Skarsgård (yet another Skarsgård, guys!) as Pennywise the Clown in the new film adaptation of Stephen King’s It.

THURSDAY

Here are the Emmy nominations of 2016! As for my favs, Jessica Jones and Daredevil Season 2 received two nominations apiece. OK, they are not nominated for acting ones, but still! One of the acting noms that will be fiercely fought for (as far as fandom is concerned) is Outstanding Lead Actor In A Limited Series Or Movie. We have fan favourites Idris Elba, Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hiddleston for Luther, Sherlock: The Abominable Bride and The Night Manager respectively. As for snubs and surprisesOrange Is the New Black just got the one (richly deserved) nomination for Outstanding Casting in a Drama Series, and BoJack Horseman got none! Both Mr. Robot and The Americans managed noms in the drama field and that was awesome. And, as usual, Game of Thrones got more acting nominations, and Outlander got none of those and I am piiiiiissed about that!

Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey got to be in the EW cover for the long-awaited film adaptation of King’s The Dark Tower, and it includes a lovely gallery and cover story~
