The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Good casting, bad casting?

THURSDAY

Behind the scenes of Benedict Cumberbatch with beloved Sesame Street characters. In here, just my fav Count Count. And there’s also a behind-the-scenes with Hiddles on The Reasonable Priced Car segment of Top Gear.

Gary Oldman confirms he’s been approached for Star Wars: Episode VII. I repeat, Gary Oldman confirms he’s been approached for Star Wars: Episode VII. Commence the heavy breathing. Embrace your franchise swag, Gary!

They’ve called. You know, I’m more cynical about it now. I’ll believe it when I’m on the plane home. The deal isn’t done, but yeah, they’ve inquired. I mean Planet of the ApesHarry PotterBatman, and Star Wars… bloody hell!

Yep, it’s been confirmed. Seth Rogen (not sure about this) and Evan Goldberg will adapt Preacher as a series for AMC, with Sam Catlin (Breaking Bad, so yay!).

Chris Evans wants Captain America to fail! Or rather, he wants his character to not always be right, in The Avengers: Age of Ultron.

This might sound crazy, but… be wrong. Make a mistake. He’s so concerned with being right. Even the struggle in this one, it’s about how to be right. His biggest struggle is just being the best he can be, and if he doesn’t achieve that, he really beats himself up. His moral compass is so sound, you rarely see him make a mistake. It’s everyone around him dropping the ball. So it would be nice to see a little bit of human error or a human flaw, just immaturity or foolishness, an ego, something.

The movie hasn’t even premiered and there’s already rumors that there’s gonna be a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel in 2016.

FRIDAY

The live-action sequels of Rurouni Kenshin (Rurôuni Kenshin: The Great Kyôto Fire arc and Rurôuni Kenshin: The End of a Legend arcget a nice poster~ Yes, that’s one poster for two movies.

What should we expect of Jurassic WorldChris Pratt tells us and it satisfies me… somewhat.

What I liked about it was it answers the question of ‘Why would you do that?’ Like, how do you suspend disbelief to be like, ‘Oh yes, let’s make this mistake again. We haven’t learned out lesson about dinosaurs, we should definitely live with them and see how that works out!’ after like three tries at it.  They answer the question really well through the script.  Colin did a great job of writing it and justifying it and in his own way having fun with that, so anybody who goes in with that question will be really amused—the way I was—about how they answer that.

Snowpiercer will be released uncut in the USA! Kinda… It will be only as a platform release (so it will just hit a few major cities before “rolling” out to other markets). But the most important thing is we, as in people in Peru, might just get it uncut then! Because the copies are there! Just subtitle them, dammit!

Paul Bettany will play The Vision in The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Say what? Does  J.A.R.V.I.S. evolve into The Vision? Or is just a dual role? What?! Color me intrigued though! And people have already started speculating, including how this piece of news could solve “Marvel’s RDJ problem”. What Robert Downey Jr. problem, you ask? Well, get inside the link and find out! It’s quite an interesting read!

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Brent Spiner (Feb 2), Warwick Davis (Feb 3), George A. Romero (Feb 4), Dane DeHaan (Feb 6), James Spader (Feb 7)
