The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Good casting, bad casting?

WEDNESDAY

OMG! Tom Hiddleston gets a new film! Director Ben Wheatley tweeted about Hiddles on his movie adaptation of J. G. Ballard’s High-Rise. Considering Wheatley have worked on some Doctor Who episodes, I guess that’s how the “Hiddles in Doctor Who” rumors started.

OMG! Gargoyles is available to stream on Youtube! All perfectly legal and with the sanctification of Disney! Yep, now you can watch all 78 episodes… and if the chanel hates you because you are not Amerian, you can always install HOLA!

Poor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Dude cannot even mention a Marvel or DC character because everyone assumes he’s going to play a part! He just mentions character Jon Stewart and now everyone thinks he’ll be Green Lantern on Justice League!

Yay! Some more pics of 300: Rise of an Empire. These are behind-the-scenes stills from the book 300: Rise of an Empire – The Art of the Film.

While we are still reeling from the tragedy that was Philip Seymour Hoffman’s death, now we also know this awful event left one major scene in Hunger Games: Mockingjay unfilmed. Necessary measures will be taken accordingly though. These are the words of a Lionsgate executive:

We’re all extraordinarily sad. But as it relates to production, it’s going to have no impact. Obviously, we’re going to have a couple of work-around issues but the movie will be creatively whole. His performances in both [remaining] movies will be up to the best of his craft. We feel it will be a good tribute to him.

Here are some pictures of “Episode 0” of the live-action Patlabor mini-series that will premiere next month in Japan.

So, why did Warner Bros. cast Jesse Eisenberg for Lex Luthor? Or rather why such a young Lex Luthor? The Hollywood Report has this to say:

[The new Lex] will be more in line with several recent graphic-novel and TV incarnations, in which he is a childhood friend of the young Man of Steel. With 30-year-old Henry Cavill returning as Superman in the May 2016 release, the actors’ ages align.

Damn, things look sucky for poor Glenn in these new pictures of The Walking Dead season 4.

Donmar’s live transmission of Coriolanus was the real winner of the past week in UK! As in the single showing on that date earned a box-office takings of £754,000. And with the odd repeat showing over subsequent days, the number rose to £796,000. Enough for fifth place in the weekend chart. Not bad, Hiddles!

According to Variety, Evangeline Lilly is being considered for the female lead role in Marvel’s Ant-Man. And while I am happy for my Elf Captain, the important news is that her character would be Hank Pym’s daughter and Scott Lang’s love interest. As far as I am aware, Hank Pym didn’t have a daughter in the comics… so either she is Janet Van Dyne (or Janet Pym now) who is now Pym’s daughter instead of wife (kinda creepy if you ask me)… or Hank and Janet now have a brand new MCU daughter~

Here’s an interview with Drew Pearce, who wrote/directed the latest Marvel’s one-shot, All Hail the King. And while many interesting things were said, the most important is, this ain’t an apology! He feels there’s no reason to apologize so quit whinning, fanboys, because he doesn’t care about your fee-fees!

The weird thing is I don’t have any regrets with what we did with Iron Man and I feel no reason to apologize for it. The short kind of let me join some dots that were already there. But it wasn’t the reason we did it. The reason we did it is that we wanted to play with Trevor Slattery some more.

There was this neat “Meet the Filmmakers” Q&A event in the Apple store on London’s Regent street, and Troll King Moffat and Sherlock stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman and Amanda Abbington were there. And you know what? We were cheated! Cheated I tell you! There was a deleted scene during The Stag Night, that had Sherlock and John at a gay club!

Cumberbatch stated that his character has no idea where they were until a group of half-naked men wander past. Moffat defended the cut saying that the original stag scene was too long.

F*ck that! And I want that on the DVD/Blu-ray! Also Moffat, that evil bastard, joked about what will happed next after Sherlock series 3 also ended in a sorta cliffhanger-y way~

I don’t know what is going on, I can’t wait for four or five years until we make the next episode.
