The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Good casting, bad casting?

MONDAY

Man, they sure have a lot of faith in The Lego Movie! Warner Bros. is already working on the sequel! Yep, the script is already being worked on. Everything is awesome indeed!

Here’s a very long article about why Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor could work. The author really thought this well, even if I am not fully convinced yet. But hey, at least now I see a different point of view, instead of one that pushed the noooooo button so hard it got stuck! His reasoning includes how he ain’t gonna be like Gene Hackman (except maybe Jesse will also have hair for the role), and how Lex Luthor has more backstory now in comicbooks, also talks about Jesse’s acting abbilities; because as quirky as he is, dude can act, right? And finally, heck, this is something new, and at least that’s bound to make some people pay attention to it.

Designer John Myhre talks about designing the 70’s Sentinels in X-Men: Days of Future Past. I accept I was sceptical about them at first sight, but they have grown on me. Also, yay, purple!

The main thing was, they were all humanoid. They all had a head, arms and legs, and that was something that was very important for Bryan to keep. And they were also purple. We thoughts how fantastic the purple colouring was, it was just great and unusual and exciting. That was just part of the inspiration for their look. In the 70s there was so much great design, but something that was particularly strong in the era was beautiful industrial design, which was very clean, very rounded, using a lot of plastic, a lot of smoked Plexiglas.

There’s this rumor that Captain America: The Winter Soldier after credits scene will be about Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch. And they say the reason is that Marvel wants to show their versions of the characters before X-Men: Days of Future Past and their crappy Quicksilver (and maybe Scarlet Witch). Yes, please.

Here’s a nice interview with Bobby Holland Hanton, a stuntman I know best for being Chris Hemsworth’s double in Thor: The Dark World. He also does stunt work for Daniel Craig and Channing Tatum, and likes to name drop Dove Men products. Well, get that cash!

Chris and I have a great relationship and get along very well. We have become extremely close and he’s a great friend of mine. He truly is such a nice, down to earth guy and very, very good at his profession! We have the same sense of humor which helps a lot on set. I hope to work with him on many more movies in the future.

TUESDAY

LOL at schoolmates making fun at Moffat’s kid with “Your dad doesn’t let anyone stay dead.” I mean bullying is BAD, but those kids are also saying it like it is! Anyway, whatever plans Moffat has with Moriarty for Sherlock series 4, Moffat Jr. figured it out. So… could it be James Moriarty’s brother who is also called James Moriarty? Mr. and Mrs. Moriarty had no imagination I swear! But anyway, I guess Moffat could make them twins or something.

But he shouldn’t talk about female perspective… he only manages to make people angry with his smugness.

BTW, those who thought we will get Sherlock series 4 this year or early 2015, LOL. More like 2016! Come on, we should be used to two year hiatus by now! We are indeed The Fandom Who Waited.

If people have to wait two years, they’ll have to wait two years […] We’ll do what we can, but with no sacrifice in quality – that’s the thing. It’s not the kind of show that turns up all the time, it’s just not. But the good news is, that probably means it will turn up sporadically for a very, very long while.

Danai Gurira talks about her character Michonne and her development during the time of the midseason finale of The Walking Dead.

What’s interesting for Michonne is that she is on the tip of something. She was on the tip of something in those first eight episodes. Was she going to settle in? Was she starting to open up? Then the trauma hit and I think the big question is, will this clam her back up or open her up? It’s a question of going back to the old her or going on a different path. That’s the question sitting on her soul as she tries to metabolize the trauma that’s befallen her.

In other news, Neil Gaiman’s American Gods is being developed as a drama series and I am flailing like Kermit. As for who could play any of the gods, here are some MTV’s suggestions, that include Hiddles and Tony Hopkins to reprise their roles from Thor~

And here’s a nice article about Ms. Marvel and her debut, and how she is part of this new breed of superheroines!

[They] are not the big-breasted, scantily clad women that perhaps have become the comic-book cliché. They are women with rich interior lives, interesting careers and complicated families who are defined by many things—least of all their looks.

Yeah, she’s totally awesome and only needed this panel to win me over~
