The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Getting ready for the party!

THURSDAY

Happy Birthday, Alan Rickman! May Hiddles and Benny Batch continue to impersonate you forever!

20 movie characters who should present at the Oscars. Yes, twenty times yes! LOL, the sample speeches are the best, and Loki will definitely slay as a presenter!

Is this not simpler? Is this not your natural state? It’s the unspoken truth of humanity, that you crave award ceremonies. The bright lure of a golden statue, a mad scramble for acknowledgment. And the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress goes to…

And staying on topic, here’s something I’ve got to admit is kinda awesome and cute. Instead of the usual models carrying awards to the presenters, we have six film students from all over USA! They won a contest to help present the Oscar statuettes on Sunday. And damn, the winners are the very picture of diversity!

In not so great news, Megan Fox and Michael Bay will be working together again. And in that already awful Ninja Turtles movie at that. Probably as April O’Neil. And she “beat Jane Levy, Anna Kendrick and Elizabeth Olsen to the role”. Damn, this gets worse and worse. Fox must really need that money.

FRIDAY

And here’s another Iron Man 3 poster, where Ben Kingsley sits like a boss as The Mandarin.

Yeah, remember how happy I was last week about Jason Momoa probably getting the Drax the Destroyer part in Guardians of the Galaxy? That beautiful, dumb man wants more Marvel money for the part. Momoa, please make your agents reconsider! I want you in this movie, dammit!

In news about the not-dumb Game of Thrones actor in a Marvel (ok Fox) movie, Bryan Singer hints a bit about Peter Dinklage’s character:

He’s not going to be a CGI character. He’ll be himself. Not that he’ll be playing Peter Dinklage, he’ll be playing this character. It’s not a shy character. He’s just such a phenomenal actor; I’m a huge fan of Peter’s and Game of Thrones. He was my first choice and I was really happy [about the casting].

In a different interview, Singer also says he’s gonna fix that terrible X-Men movies continuity. And he thinks fans are going to like it~ He also talks a bit about X-Men: Days of Future Past:

The majority of it…or that part of it, takes place in the early 70’s, 1973. So Nixon is a character, and there will be different styles and automobiles. And there will be some futuristic, as well as retro, technology which you haven’t seen. There are science fiction aspects of the movie, and then there’s some retro science fiction that the X-Men films haven’t had quite yet. So we’re exploring that, which will be fun.

And finally, some casting news: Idris Elba will be Nelson Mandela in a biopic, with Naomi Harris as Winnie Mandela. As much as Idris doesn’t give me Mandela vibes, I am totally here for this!

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, just as last week was concept art week, this week we have lots of VFX videos! From The Hobbit‘s Rivendell [1], to The Avenger‘s New York [2], also Looper [3], and Green Lantern [4].

Okay… So I’ve been slack in my spazzing with you. I’m so sorry. Because NOW I’ve got some madness that I need to get off my chest.

MEGAN EFFING FOX AS APRIL O’NEIL?!?!?! You’ve GOT to be shitting me after eating 85 spicy burritos!!! Firstly, April is a sexy red-head with as much balls as Casey Jones. And, anyway, about the other “choices”… why are we using teenagers/women who could get away with looking 16 when April was ALLLLL woman and was a leading anchor at the city’s leading news station? C’mon, folks. This would be something I wouldn’t believe even if Fox WASN’T playing one of my favorite characters of all time (she may have been my first lady crush… definitely my first ginger snap).

On to happier things… IDRIS!!! Anytime I see him do ANYTHING I want to see it/hear it/be around it. So him playing Mandela (which when I found out about it I sorta squealed REALLY loudly at about 2 in the morning) is just something that makes my heart sing. I think I would’ve prefered someone like Djimon Honsou. I mean, he’s not South African, but neither is Idris… HaHa.

Alright, Sir Ben Kingsley. I see your badass self with your sit-down swag!

In all honesty, I’ll watch every single X-Men permuation because it’s X-Men. Plot holes and shoddy continuity notwithstanding, it’s a reliable franchise: superheroes, tight outfits, explosions, magic… everything the intelligent mind needs.

I need to do better with my spazzing, lady. I’m sorry I’ve been so absent lately! I shall do better this weekend!!!

@Camiele, Spaz away, my lady~ In fact, I welcome you too. Also, I basically agree with every single thing you say.

@Mirella, I just feel bad that I spazzed so late… HaHa. I shall be better about my cray and sharing it with you since you do so well to share with the rest of us ^^
