The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Fully Assembled!

TUESDAY

These concept art posters for Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther were shown at SDCC, but here they are officially for us puny mortals. Call me biased but I liked the first one better. And it’s basically because of Hela:

Damn, Taika Waititi revealed Thor: Ragnarok runtime, “the cut right now, I reckon it’s about 100 minutes”. If that’s the truth then it will be the shortest MCU movie ever! That said, we are promised lots of deleted scenes in the blu-ray!

There will be a lot of deleted scenes. Great scenes. Funny, funny moments that—you can’t have it all. As I say you gotta kill those puppies, so we had to take some of those things out. Those scenes will exist so people will be able to see them.

On the other hand, Joe Russo teased that Avengers: Infinity War might be MCU’s longest yet!

The current cut is over two and a half [hours]… Most of it’s a movie you could show, but there’s still a lot of work left to be done, I still have a couple of scenes that we haven’t finished from Avengers 3 that I’m shooting in the next few months with my brother, and it’s certainly gonna be a film that lives in the two and a half hour, two and a half hour-plus range.

Check out these new character posters for The Dark Tower. Here are the Gunslinger (Idris Elba) and the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), and damn those are pretty posters:

The viral marketing for Godzilla: King Of The Monsters continues. This time with a tease of Mothra as a cave wall carving in the Temple of The Moth. This is apparently the Unlocked: Monarch Classified File #63061.

WEDNESDAY

Disney is resurrecting Scar from The Lion King… as a volcano. Yep, in The Lion Guard, an animated Disney Channel/Disney Junior show, about Kion, the son of King Simba and Queen Nala, the younger brother of Kiara. Said dumb child accidentally brings Scar back to life… Kinda. His spirit returns in the form of volcano flames. David Oyelowo is the one voicing Scar, and while I’d rather have Jeremy Irons, it ain’t bad. You can check the video here.

Hot Toys revealed their newest Thor: Ragnarok figure: Gladiator Hulk! Now with interchangeable head sculpts! It also comes with detachable gladiator helmet with real fur, a detachable hair piece, the highly detailed gladiator armor, war hammer and battle axe. It’s also our best look yet at how Hulk looks in the film. Check it out together with the Thor figure:

But Hot Toys also delivered on the DC side of things. Check out Batman’s new tactical costume… that still reminds me a lot of Watchmen‘s Nite Owl II. It features a masked head sculpt, 3 interchangeable eye pieces and 3 lower faces capturing Ben Affleck’s facial expressions (and one is incredibly funny with an open mouth), 2 interchangeable goggles, an array of gadgets, and a specially designed Justice League stand. Here’s a picture, and yes that’s Aquaman behind him:
