The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Full of marvelous feels

WEDNESDAY

Chris Pine will join Benedict Cumberbatch at The Graham Norton show on May 3th! This actually diminishes the chances of Graham embarassing Benedict with fanart or fanfiction. But I still have faith! Also, Benedict will also be the head jury of a sci-fi short film contest in London. I am not sure he knows much about sci-fi besides what he managed to research for Star Trek Into Darkness, but I don’t think he would have accepted if he wasn’t sure he could make a good job.

Hiddles knew about Gangnam Style because of Tilda Swinton. This is valuable information!

[Tilda]’s so fun, just a hoot. I’d be in the make-up chair every morning while she showed me stupid YouTube videos. She introduced me to Gangnam Style. Seriously, she was into K-pop long before anyone else. She threw a party for me. Tilda Swinton on the dance floor is a force of nature. She knows how to get down.

More Star Trek Into Darkness stuff. Now it’s time for Benedict Cumberbatch to menace Zachary Quinto via blurry video… or rather John Harrison to Spock. A clip and a related TV commercial.

OMG, Guillermo del Toro will adapt Monster manga for HBO! And he will co-write with Steven Thompson, of Doctor Who and Sherlock fame. Pretty please, HBO, don’t white-wash and go find a Japanese dude to be Dr. Tenma. I also want a pair of boy/girl twins who can actually pass up for each other! Make it happen!

Talking about manga adaptation, Shane Black is working on Death Note for Warner Bros.? Oh yeah, also on Doc Savage for Sony, but I don’t care about that one that much~

Right now I’ve got this thing at Warner Bros. called Death Note that I like a lot. It’s a Japanese Manga that’s very tense and really cool. And also something at Sony I’m really excited about, something that as a kid I loved. It’s Doc Savage, the old series of pulp novels and doing Doc Savage right, finding the way to get that script correct has been one of the guiding passions of my adult life.

Now, I like Guillermo and Shane good enough, but if they ruin those adaptations, I’ll be pretty pissed with both! Don’t make this into a Dragonball: Evolution 2.0. I’d rather they go the way of the movie adaptation of Akira and stay in development hell.

But talking about Shane Black’s newest movie, here’s a most poignant clip of Iron Man 3.

We also get more interview from cast members. First, Don Cheadle talks about War Machine’s new look as Iron Patriot:

I don’t know how personally I’d feel about being draped in the flag. You put it on and it’s heavy as shit. I’m not saying that Rhodey cares what the paint job is like, he just wants it to do what it does. He doesn’t want to be used as a symbol, he wants to be used as a soldier, but he understands there’s a political side to the military as well.

And Ben Kingsley talks about his character, The Mandarin, too:

He’s a pastiche of anti-American iconography, ‘Oriental’, exotic dress… His throne room is an extraordinary collage of military memorabilia and posters and detritus. It’s there to confuse – you don’t know what’s coming next. You think you do but you don’t, and that all adds to this air of Tony being baffled by him. His costume is that sort of collage too: the military boots, the rings on the fingers…

Here’s the press release and video of that “Become Iron Man” stuff that looks so damn awesome. I’m green with envy here, dammit.

Daredevil goes back to Marvel. Fox has a deadline of October 10, 2012 to put a new Daredevil movie in production if they want to keep the rights. Alas, that didn’t happen. So yep, Daredevil is back with Marvel~

An article in Empire Magazine’s Man of Steel issue claims that if there’s gonna be a Justice League movie, it’s very likely that Zack Snyder will be asked to direct it.

Iron Man 3 premiere in LA! That’s the last thing I watched before I went to watch my own midnight screening of Iron Man 3. And yay! Many of the MCU actors were there. Such a cute reunion!

@Diandra Rodriguez, Yeah, that Tilda was into k-pop was a total surprise for me too xD Now, I wonder what (or rather who) exactly she likes!
As for the others my mixed feelings of American manga adaptations attack…
And is it too much to ask that Fox and Disney joing forces to do a House of M movie?
