The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: For auld lang syne, my dear

MONDAY

So the first news of the day was quite shocking: Seth MacFarlane will host the Oscars. Yup, in case it didn’t sink in, let me repeat: Seth MacFarlane will host the freaking Oscars. Damn, did they run out of hosts or what? I just hope his hosting is more American Dad and less Family Guy.

The Hollow Crown was released on DVD, so a Shakespeare survey was done. The results were painful to read. Tom Hiddleston and Jeremy Irons have excelent opinions how Shakespeare can be shown to the younger generations though.

So Little House on the Prairie could be adapted into a movie. You know the series of books that got a popular TV adaptation in the 70s and 80s. Dammit, don’t tell me you don’t remember and make me feel old even if the show ended before I was born! Anyway the writer would be Abi Morgan (Shame, The Iron Lady) and that makes me interested.

Yay! Martin Freeman joins The World’s End [1], the third film in the “Three Flavours Cornetto” Trilogy. In this one, childhood friends’ 20 year reunion drinking marathon will get interrupted by an oncoming apocalypse. Since Martin appeared in small roles in Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz, I was waiting for this!

Here we have the first clip of Red Dawn, you know the remake of the 1984 that is totally ridiculous because the big baddie is now North Korea. I’ll still watch it because lulz and Chris Hemsworth!

It is interesting to see him deaging in movies, first The Avengers, then Cabin in the Woods and now this, with all the movies being released in the reverse order they were filmed.

RDJ returns to the Iron Man 3 set after injury and the world rejoices. Mark XLVII armor reports for duty too! New armor even gets to pose with buddy (not) Iron Patriot!

eFx Collectibles is offering three variations of the Captain America (USO costume) tour posters! And soon we’ll get Agent Couson’s blood-spilled Captain America trading cards. BRB, adding those to Christmas wishlist!

So this month, Marvel teams up with Susan G. Komen For The Cure to help promote National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here we have the 8 pink-themed variant covers:

Finally, EW gave us a sneak peek at The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo graphic novel. I am not a fan of the art, but I did love the cover.
