The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Doctors of Future Past

MONDAY

We have a new featurette for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, and we see Beorn’s house where everything is huge, specially compared to a bunch of dwarves and a hobbit.

Zack Snyder talks about Man of Steel and the difficult decision Supes had to make (killing Zod to spare a family) and the possible repercussions it may have in the sequel:

It’s a real world problem. I think the effect on Superman, it is a deeply difficult decision for him to make. It’s not a thing that he takes lightly, and you can see it affects him pretty profoundly. And maybe we’ll see the repercussions of that in the next film. How that’s affected him, making that decision… Maybe.

Elizabeth Olsen confirms she’s totally playing Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron! And she’s glad to be with Aaron Taylor-Johnson again (since they are also co-starts in the new Godzilla movie)

We get to play husband and wife, and we get to play twin brother and sister.

Yeah, that doesn’t help the kinda incest-y vibes Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver have. LOL. She’s also glad to be working with Joss Whedon, whom she accuses of being “too smart”. She seems quite happy with her role too, and that’s also nice to hear (or rather read):

I’m feeling really excited about Scarlet Witch because she’s really complicated. It’s really fun stuff. I’m kind of tired of playing myself right now, like, versions of myself. Doing something like [Scarlet Witch] sounds a lot cooler.

So, a casting call for Ant-Man has been revealed and you know what? They want a young girl (aged 6 to 9) who must be “intelligent and appealing”. A little girl in an Ant-Man movie? I guess they are making “To Steal An Ant-Man!” and that girl is Cassie Lang, daughter of Scott Lang (the second Ant-Man in the comics). Which means that the movie could have Hank and Janet Pym, but they may not be Ant-Man and The Wasp for time constrictions, and MCU will have Scott Lang as their primary Ant-Man, and… I am overthinking this again.

OK, we are talking SPOILERS here. Spoilers for Thor: The Dark World. Here are some BURNING questions (and sorta answers) we were left with after all the credits, including after-credit scenes, were done and over with. The most pressing one, besides the fate of that Jotunheim beast on London, is the possible demise of Odin. Is the old man really dead? Anthony Hopkins is very flippant and goes with a “he’s dead” response. Kevin Feige is less direct and probably means we haven’t seen the last of the All-Father yet.

We have very good ideas whether the All-Father is with us or not.

What exactly happened to him though, dude ain’t sure. But he’s totally not dead!

I would not say that it’s safe to say, no. I don’t know what Loki did to him.

Anyway, it’s throwback time! Here are some early designs and animatics of the first Thor movie! In this fist one, when Odin came to Jotunheim to rescue Thor et al, he just didn’t left with “the kids”, he actually kicked a lot of Frost Giant ass before leaving! Would have wanted to see that even if it would have kinda defeated the purpose of the All-Father saying he’s all peaceful now.

Tom Hiddleston reveals why he’s been doing all this wacky stuff all over the world during his Thor: The Dark World press tour.

I say ‘yes’ a lot. It looks like I’ve been a circus bear, but it’s more fun to do that sort of thing than to endlessly recycle answers.

Well, can’t disagree with that! Gotta take that into account if I ever get to interview him. Ehem.

Here’s comicbook writer Al Ewing talking about Loki: Agent of Asgard. And he totally promises to follow on Kieron Gillen’s footsteps concerning Loki’s adventures. That is we will laugh and cry~

There’s nothing that makes you root for a character like being able to laugh with them, or cry with them. Loki readers will be doing both. Mostly laughing to start with, but the tears will come in their own good time. Lots and lots of tears, don’t you worry.

On purely Disney news, they want to make a stage version of The Princess Bride in collaboration with author William Goldman himself! Will it be a musical (yes!)? There aren’t many news at the moment, but we sure are happy and eagerly await for more!

Anyway, we are getting a new Peter Pan movie. But it won’t be any Peter Pan movie. Nope. This one will be an origin story, and will be helmed by the Keira Knightley (and Saoirse Ronan) director Joe Wright! Well, OK is not the only Peter Pan movie in the works, Columbia and even Disney are making their own too, and I think Disney’s is also an origin story… but Joe Wright! Will this mean this movie will be very pretty to look at but quite dramatic and maybe tragic? And will it have Keira Knightley and Saoirse Ronan somewhere in there? We will see.

  1. Yeah, I like them giving a try with Kamala Khan as Miss Marvel, but I want to actually read her stories first before joining the hype machine.
