The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Do not go gentle against that bad fan

MONDAY

You see, I don’t usually post about deaths because those don’t make me fangirl. Just make me feel vaguely sad and depressed. But Eduard Khil’s passing did shock me and it was something we (that is my geek friends and I) talked about for the day. He was such a sweet old man and I’m glad he learnt of his new fame and took it with grace. You’ll be rememberd Mr. Trololo!

So Pop Sugar interviewed Benedict Cumberbatch, who is STILL bemused about his new heartthrob status. What is it gonna take, Benny? Do you want women literally throwing themselves at you?

Of course, Hipsterbatch didn’t waste his time in US wondering why women want in his pants now. He also went to Coney Island with a lot of hipster friends, and one of them took pictures on instagram and put them all over Twitter.

Continuing the British news, there’s this commercial! Yup, a countdown special with all the sexiest British stars. I’ll so watch this special when it airs (June 12 at 10/9c on BBC America.)

Anyway, you may be aware that NBC is going to make a contemporary series about Hannibal Lecter with the imaginative title of Hannibal. Now the title role has been cast, and the chosen one is the Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen (Casino Royale), who recently got the Best Actor prize for The Hunt at the Cannes Film Festival. Should I request a hell yeah? Because hell yeah!

DC Comics released a 5-page preview of Minutemen #1. Looks good! Ok, I know Before Watchmen is basically fanfiction/fanart… Here’s to hoping it is GOOD fanfiction/fanart.

In more comics-related news, the first official Iron Man 3 photo was released. The set picture shows Robert Downey, Jr. as Tony Stark in front of the whole Iron Man collection. It’s all very spiffy.

Firstly… HOMG JUDGE DREDD’S COMING BACK?!?!?!?!? *fangirly spazz fangirly spazz*

Secondly, Morgan Freeman = BAWS… FACT!

Thirdly, they’ve already done a mad for TV remake of It and the original was just a waste of life and oxygen (I mean, after you get over the mental paralysis of seeing a creepy ass Tim Curry playing Pennywise the Clown). I HOPE this adaptation isn’t a steaming pile of whodunit!

Yet again, your fangirliness has given me much to squee (and this time, lament) over. LUFF YOU!!!
