The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: DC blinks first!

WEDNESDAY

First, here’s a picture from the set of High-Rise, courtesy of Hiddles and his twitter! Besides Tom “Blue Steel” Hiddleston, we also have Luke Evans, the director Ben Wheatley and director of photography Laurie Rose. Good times!

Now let’s talk about Peter Capaldi! First, here’s his cute reaction when he realized he was going to be the Doctor!

I was back in Prague [doing The Three Musketeers]when they called, and I was dressed as Cardinal Richelieu. We were shooting and I was torturing someone, or something – when I got to my phone, I had all these missed messages. I finally got on the phone to my agent and she said, “Hello Doctor…” and I couldn’t tell anyone. I had to just stand in a corner and scream, and then I was walking around Prague singing the Doctor Who theme tune to myself.

While I keep that lovely image of him standing in a corner and screaming, here’s his doubts about how he’ll be received as the new Doctor, but still he’s happy that he will be someone’s Doctor. Also, he’s selling himself short, he’s definitely more handsome than Matt Smith in my opinion. he needs to realize that being old(er) won’t keep some fangirls away~

I don’t know if people will like me or not; or if the show will be more successful or less successful. But no matter what happens, someone somewhere will love me – I’ll be someone’s Doctor. Even if everyone else hates me.

The middle of the week and it already shows it has been very productive! Yep, a lot of movies have wrapped filming/production. First we had the Fantastic Four reboot and it seems I have so uninterested in the movie that it seems that I blinked and it was done! But hey, here’s a cute picture of the four of them on Kate Mara’s twitter! After that we have I movie I care about a lot: Jurassic World! And director Colin Trevorrow tweeted an image of the final Jurassic World slate in the mouth of a (maybe dead?) dinosaur. After that we had Arnold Schwarzenegger posted an image on his Facebook of himself on a production chair that also showed the name of the new Terminator movie and it looks like a typo: Terminator Genisys! Finally, another of my most awaited movies, Avengers: Age of Ultron, also wrapped and Joss Whedon celebrated a picture of himself that read “What the hell do I do now?”. It’s awesome.

Talking about filming, can you believe Ant-Man is back on track after everything? Yep, they will start filming next week in Atlanta. They are sticking to their July 17, 2015 release date dammit!

Those who aren’t sticking to their release date are Warner/DC though. Yep, the pissing contest between Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Captain America 3 is over and it is won by Marvel! Yes, yes, I know it is actually smart to move to March 25th, 2016. It’s a month with no competition and frankly they didn’t have many options after taking so much time they didn’t want to play with Marvel after all. Whatever the (good) reason, it is still perceived that Marvel won (and battle they didn’t even know they were playing) and kept their May 6th, 2016 date. Warner/DC did manage to one up Marvel in something though! They revealed the release date of possible movies that include 9 DC movies and 2 WB event films… whatever that means. Justice League? The Lego Movie 2? But look! They have movies planned until 2020! That’s like a whole year more than Disney/Marvel, you guys! They totally have a plan! Well, part of a plan~

And with the realization that we will have like 30 superhero movies until 2020 and my middle age is already planned (as far as movies are concerned), here we have the Hot Toy figures of Rocket and Groot… and it will include a Baby Dancing Groot! Ok, he won’t actually be dancing, but he will be small and in a pot and with his arms akimbo, so yes Baby Dancing Groot!

Kevin Feige talked about the possibilities for Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and beyond, which may or may not include Star-Lord’s dad, more Nebula (since she ain’t dead), Thanos doing truly dastardly things, and of course the possible Avengers/Guardians crossover!

Who knows if and when these guys would ever connect, but it is fun thinking about, how would Steve Rogers react to Rocket? Or, you’re right, Drax couldn’t even have a conversation with Tony Stark! [Laughs] I have a theory that the more time Drax spends with Peter Quill, the more he’s going to start to learn, perhaps, that people aren’t always as literal as his species would assume.

Oh yeah, Guardians of the Galaxy just passed $100M mark in the US, thanks to us women (44% of the audience!) who appreciate the eye candy Marvel offers, and because we also damn like comicbook movies dammit!

On Box Office news on the other side of the geeky planet, Rurouni Kenshin: Kyoto Inferno got biggest opening of any Japanese live-action film this year in, well, Japan! Yas! Get money, Kenshin!
