The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: DC blinks first!

MONDAY

Today we have a lot of news about ladies!

First, Sandra Bullock tops highest earning actresses list with $51 millions. Get it, Sandra! The other actresses in Forbes list’s TOP 5 are Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow, and a tie between Angelina Jolie and Cameron Diaz.

It seems Sony will beat Marvel and DC in getting the first female superhero movie with possible 2017 release date. Now, Sony only owns the rights to the Spider family so the most likely candidates (as in the wants I want most) are either Spider-Woman or Black Cat. Deadline says they even have a scriptwriter and producers ready. Make it so!

Glenn Close seems to have enjoyed being Nova Prime in Guardians Of The Galaxy a lot and she sure would love to return for the sequel:

When you play a character who they love and are amused by, hopefully they’ll see more of you. Especially at this point in my career, it’s fantastic. To be in the beginning of literally a whole new universe for people is really fun.

Besides, just look at this HBIC:

Hayley Atwell is getting ready to be Peggy Carter again! Yep, she’s working out! She also talks about what it was like for a woman after WWII, where they got sidelined as the men returned from war. But hell naw is Agent Carter going to take that!

It’s 1946. She’s lost Steve [Rogers, a.k.a. Captain America], but she’s back working with a group of men who don’t really see her full potential, and she’s seen as this kind of the girlfriend of Steve Rogers. And so she’s having to fight for her corner within the workspace.

As a combo breaker, here’s Moffat talking about Capaldi’s Doctor, and how this new timelord will rude! Just like Sherlock! And Malcolm Tucker~

Peter will be very much the Doctor. He has a tremendous ability with throwaway humor, and a lot of it is around the fact that sometimes he is terribly rude. I think kids will think he is the rude Doctor. You might want to cuddle him, but he really will resist.

TUESDAY

Apparently the SDCC hangover ain’t over yet! Here’s an article about the cast (and creator) of History Channel’s Vikings, which is very awesome with their female characters. And they talk and give satisfactory answers to women representation on TV. And I am glad to say Katheryn Winnick (who plays HBIC Lagertha) and I have the same opinion about that Ragnar/Aslaug business~

I think Lagertha understands the dynamic, and if anything I think she blames Ragnar more than Aslaug. Here’s a woman that shows up without having any support, shows up with a swollen belly, needs the help of Ragnar. [Leaving] shows [Lagertha’s] character of being a strong woman, and not having her ego get the best of her and being able to make a decision that she will do what’s right for herself and stick up for herself and decide that this is not the best situation for her and she really needs to leave. So, if anything, who do you really blame in a situation when someone cheats on someone? Do you blame the mistress, or do you blame the husband?

X-Men: Days of Future Past and The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug are getting extended editions! Not that it wasn’t expected considering the X-Men producer teased it back in June, and Peter Jackson’s Tolkien movies always have extended editions… but still! It is official, with dates and everything! I guess X-Men: Days of Future Past will include the Rogue subplot that was taken from the final cut of the theatrical release. It will be released on Digital HD September 23 and on Blu-ray October 14. As for The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug will add a whole 25 minutes to the theatrical cut, which means we will sit our butts for 186 minutes of November 4… , not counting the 9 hours of special features, which I am eagerly waiting for since the ones from the first one were lovely and made me fall in love with all the dwarves who were not Thorin since he had a lot of screen time already~ And here’s the art:

James Gunn was at Empire’s Podcast and they talked about many things such as all the creatures that you could see in the Collector’s collection, what made the cut and what didn’t, how Kevin Feige was the one with the idea of the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Will Return’ title card (which is usually put after the credits), and of course Baby Dancing Groot!

Little spoiler for the audience, that tree dancing is me. I’m not motion-captured, but I’m motion-referenced and that is 100% me dancing… Honestly, that [scene] was supposed to be either mid-credits or end-credits, but when we showed it to the test audience, they loved it so much! We were like ‘We don’t want people walking out and missing this,’ so we put it right there after the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Will Return’ thing.

And Marvel has officially released their first deleted Scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier:
