The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Comicbook TV and back again~

FRIDAY

Elizabeth Olsen will join Tom Hiddleston in the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light, as his (first) wife, Audrey Mae. Let’s get ready to all the Loki/Scarlet Witch manips! Oh yeah!

Mark Ruffalo congratulated Rian Johnson (with whom he worked in The Brothers Bloom) for getting to write and direct Star Wars: Episode VIII. He also ain’t too proud to beg and “desperately” wants in on the Star Wars franchise~

My e-mail to Rian after all these years was, “Rian, congratulations on everything you’ve been doing. And by the way, if there’s a part in Star Wars, please, anything, please consider considering me to join you.”

In also great news, Gillian Anderson was promoted to Hannibal series regular! Yep, we will see a lot more of Dr. Bedelia du Maurier  in Season 3!

A new logo of Agent Carter has been revealed! And it looks spiffy!

Daredevil showrunner, Steven S. DeKnight, talked about what can we except from the Marvel/Netflix series… and that is gritty violence! Oh yes! See? Gritty violence is totally acceptable and great when the character demands it!

With this version of Daredevil, we wanted it to be grounded, gritty, as realistic as we could portray. That naturally fits in with the Daredevil character. Matt Murdock, on a regular basis, would get the shit beat out of him. That’s one thing that makes him a great character. He’s not super strong. He’s not invulnerable. In every aspect, he’s a man that’s just pushed himself to the limits, he just has senses that are better than a normal humans. He is human. The other thing that really drew me to this character is that he’s one of the most morally grey of the heroes.

Stephen Amell’s total defense of DC’s TV shows is awesome (and kinda adorable). And he doesn’t care if he’s not in the Justice League movie, he’s getting his own TV Justice League so nyah nyah!

I don’t think there is a logistical reality to us participating in the feature side. That being said, I never wanted to have to feel like the show was justified, just because we participated in the movie. I don’t think my character would participate on the cinematic side. What’s that saying? Is it six seasons and a movie? Our show right now has me, Arsenal, Flash. There’s going to be Firestorm and Atom. The Justice League elements of it are very present on our shows [Arrow and The Flash] already.

OMG a live-action (Teen) Titans TV series on TNT? Well, at least we are getting near a pilot order! Here’s the pitch, according to Deadline:

Titans revolves around the eponymous group of young Super Heroes-to-be from the DC Universe. The action series centers on Dick Grayson (probably best known for his alter ego as Robin), who emerges from the shadow of Batman to become Nightwing, the leader of a fearless band of new Super Heroes including Starfire, Raven and many others.

Let’s finish with something different from these comicbook inspired TV shows. Here’s a comicbook based on a TV show! Yep, Sleepy Hollow has got comicbooks! Prequel digital comicbooks to be exact. There’s going to be five of them, but two already can be seen on the Sleepy Hollow‘s facebook page and on BOOM!’s Tumblr page. After that we will get printed comicbooks on October 15 that will also feature shorts by Noelle Stevenson (a.k.a. Gingerhaze)!

And that it’s for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Idris Elba (6), Martin Freeman (8), Colin Firth (10) and Ian Holm (12).
