The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Choose your side!

THURSDAY

I just love love love it when fan videos have quality to rival or, dare I say, be better than official content! Here’s a Marvel Phase 2 retrospective that is so cool, Disney/Marvel should just hire the guy Clark Zhu to use this officially. Also, Captain America: Civil War is already outselling all previous Marvel movies in the pre-sales!

Joe Russo is a tease and talked about a fully powered Scarlet Witch for Avengers: Infinity War films! Yes, please.

She is on a growth arc, and it is part of her development. It is very tricky with powerful characters, because unless they have an internal struggle or a flaw that limits them then they do become limitless, and the storytelling becomes muddled and not very interesting. You know she could’ve stopped that fight at the airport in 5 seconds if she were at the peak of her powers, so it really has to do her character specifically going on a journey to understand what the limits of her powers are. She makes a mistake very early in the movie that sets her back, and we’ll get to see where she goes in Infinity War.

Robert Downey Jr. will totally be in Spider-Man: Homecoming. And that might be the reason why Michael Keaton’s deal as the villain might be off. RDJ is expensive, and Marvel (and Sony) are cheap.

In Robert Downey Jr. news, dude  says Sherlock Holmes 3 is filming this year! OMG, finally! Will Holmes and Watson finally kiss?! You know is heading that way, dammit!

We’ll attempt to make one this year. When we’re making those Sherlock movies it is off the hook. It really a big deal to go and do those movies. I’m tired all the time, but I’m excited about it.

HBO renewed Game of Thrones for season 7 in 2017, so people getting ready for the Sunday’s premiere have more things to wait for! Also, tons of pictures from Season 6 Episode 1: “The Red Woman”. Well, Arya ain’t looking that good!

FRIDAY

Steven Universe is returning in May 12 to Cartoon Network! We will get a four-week Steven Universe event titled “In Too Deep”, that unfolds over five episodes — two back to back during a 30-minute special premiere.  Here’s the teaser:

Guillermo del Toro will bring his personal collection to art galleries around the world! And of course, none of those galleries is close to me. Dammit. The exhibit of more than 500 pieces from his “Bleak House” will begin at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and then going to tour to Minneapolis, Toronto, Mexico City, Barcelona, Paris, and New York City from July to November.

If you have lots of cash lying around (ha!), are a fan of Star Wars, and would like to do some charity, you too can bid on BB-8s designed by the Star Wars cast, and also artists and celebrities! The BB-8 Great Auction proceeds go to Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity. Here’s the one designed by John Boyega:

bb8-fn2187

My BB-8 is based on my Stormtrooper, FN2187, merging the light and dark side, much like Finn’s own journey in The Force Awakens. Having spent so much time with the incredible BB-8 making the film I was intrigued what an amalgamation of the droid and my own Stormtrooper would look like. It is unmistakably based on FN2187 because of the three red blood marks, which represent the point in the film Finn first shows his human side.

And that’s it for the week. Before I go, I want to wish Happy Birthday to Sean Bean, Edgar Wright, David Tennant, Tim Curry, George Takei, Jessica Lange, Andy Serkis and James McAvoy.
