The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Beauty and The Purple Man~

TUESDAY

The Fantastic Four trailer happened and it was very dramatic and sci-fi… and as good geeks there’s been a lot of overthinking stuff. Starting with the creators themselves offering commentary!

What we’re doing is quite different, and we want people to get a sense of it. There is a mystery, and the slow immersion into that is part of the experience of what will ultimately be the movie. We wanted it to feel different and represent what’s unique about the film. It has a little more restraint, maybe, than some other trailers these days.

Of course, there were HD screengrabs, twitter reactions, and finally Things Worth Noticing!

Charlie Cox talked about Daredevil‘s costume and it is pretty tight! So tight it needs four people and 45 minutes to put it on! And with that level of difficulty, what about when nature calls? No worries, superhero costumes have a wee zipper!

They’re very clever about it. You get three zippers. You zip them all up, but when you have to wee, you just have to zip one down—the wee zipper.

Casting news time! Disney wants Chris Pratt for the Indiana Jones reboot! Chris P. has totally put himself in the Male Lead Category and he just needed to get buff for everyone to see his charisma! Yay? Anyway, I totally see it. At least lookwise, considering his role in Jurassic World~ As for personality, I’m sure he can pull off exasperastion and deadpan, as well as he can pull goofy and fast-talker~

Talking about wanted actors, according to some rumors, Liam Hemsworth has been offered to star in Independence Day sequel, ID Forever. Michael B. Jordan also has been rumoured for a role. Maybe the son of Will Smith’s character? No Will Smith tho.

Also, habemus cast of All-Female Ghostbusters! Kinda~ OK, Melissa McCarthy is totally a sure thing, and Kristen Wiig, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon are in the middle of hopefully positive negotiations! Yay!

WEDNESDAY

Comicbook news! Marvel announces the first issues of three Last Days stories, and while I only read one of them (guess which!) I do follow the happenings of the other two so here they are: Captain America & The Mighty Avengers #8, Magneto #18, Loki: Agent of Asgard #14~

Ryan Reynolds, soon to be Deadpool, talks about the movie, the budget they don’t have but the hopes of making a good movie because ingenuity!

It’s been a long time, but it’s happened in the right way and that’s all that matters. We don’t have the kind of money that most superhero movies do, but that’s great, actually. Necessity is the mother of invention, and that’s why we get to make the movie we want to make.

Here’s David Tennant being all happy about getting a role with Marvel in A.K.A. Jessica Jones! As well he should be. Get money, you loveable nerd. But please make your character less rapey, thanks!

I grew up on Marvel comics, so it’s very exciting to be part of their ever expanding entertainment empire. It’s great. I love the movies, I love the TV shows, so I’m very pleased to be part of one.

Hayley Atwell is awesome in Agent Carter (and everything else) and she kicks ass while she hums Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” in her head.

There’s one fight scene that happens in a couple of episodes from now and has a very upbeat 1940s song over it, which is fantastic. What people don’t know is that actually during the fight sequence I had Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” in my head throughout the whole fight. When I hear the new soundtrack I go, “Oh that’s not what I had in my head, but it still fits.”

With that in mind, let’s talk about another awesome woman in Agent Carter: Dottie Underwood, played by Bridget Regan. Ever since she first appeared fans have speculated she’s a Black Widow because a ballerina moving close to Peggy Carter? Totally a Black Widow. That’s geek logic and it is very sound because it totally paid off in the latest episode where there was a literal twist (of a bad guy’s neck) by awesome Dottie who had very familiar fight moves. Showrunners were of course asked about it, and this what they said:

The great and exciting thing for us is we’re showing the precursor to the Black Widow Program, as you will see in the upcoming episode, 105 […] Basically Dottie is the product of a Russian spy program which could end up being the Black Widow program.

Anyway, here are both awesome women looking beautiful and capable in their awesome late 40’s clothes~
