The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Batman will be BATMAN!

TUESDAY

Habemus new Star Wars: The Last Jedi promo art! Yup, it includes close-ups for Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke!

Welp, it seems a Joker origin story movie is in the works! And Martin freaking Scorsese is set to produce it! But you know who won’t have anything to do with it? Jared Leto! I mean, sure he will be in the Suicide Squad sequel, so we haven’t see then last of Leto Joker. But this is an origin story, so younger character and actor I guess. Also, this film possibly won’t be part of the DCEU and “will be the first film under a new WB banner that expands DC properties with new storylines and different actors”. It will take place in early 80s for some reason… and damn how old is the Joker supposed to be? I hardly think it will be a child Joker right?

The intention is to make a gritty and grounded hard-boiled crime film set in early-80s Gotham City that isn’t meant to feel like a DC movie as much as one of Scorsese’s films from that era, like Taxi Driver, Raging Bull or The King Of Comedy.

In an interiew with The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie Cox teased some elements of the Born Again arc for Daredevil Season 3, but he also points out that the Netflix shows don’t tend to “follow any story blueprints too closely”.

There may be elements from Born Again, but I’m sure there will be elements that are unfamiliar and surprising and different in order for the show to be compelling to fans who know the comics very well. If we start making Born Again page-for-page, then the people who have read it and loved it — the hardcore fans — they won’t have too much drama.

We are getting a third season for Stranger Things. The Duffer brothers have confirmed it themselves! They have also teased the possibility of ending on the fourth season, with Matt Duffer adding that he doesn’t know “if we can justify something bad happening to them once a year”. LOL, that’s true!

WEDNESDAY

Seems Jared Leto won’t be missing that Warner/DC movie from the Joker origin story, since he will be getting another job from them anyway! Yep, a Joker and Harley Quinn movie will be made, helmed by the Crazy, Stupid, Love directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa! Yes, of course Margot Robbie will be in this “criminal love story”.

Empire magazine has been busy working on their new occasional spin-off series: Empire Classics. It will offer the most iconic films and filmmakers in cinema history… by theme! And the first in the series? The Greatest Action Movies Ever! Here’s the cover:
