The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: Aye-yi-yi!
THURSDAY
Bill Hader will voice Alpha 5 in the Power Rangers movie! Guess he’s practicing all his “aye-yi-yi”s. I really hope him and Bryan Cranston (who’s voicing Zordon) get to do their lines together.
Besides that, we got new character posters of each Power Ranger, where nobody looks entirely comfortable with their armor. Here are a couple!
Remember John Wick? The awesome movie were Keanu Reeves was kicking ass and taking names, because an asshole stole his car and (most hienously) killed his puppy… erm, spoilers I guess? Well, we were promised a sequel! And they delivered! Here’s the first look of John Wick: Chapter 2! And, according to filmmaker Chad Stahelski, this one is even better! I mean, he has to say it, but still! Yay!
I would say we had twice as much action as the first movie. We took it all a full notch up as far as the driving car stuff went. A great portion of the car chase in the opening of the film is Keanu, which is very impressive.
The fill is coming to theaters on February 10, 2017. And they better not kill another dog!
Luke Cage is coming very soon to Netflix (September 30th, yay!), and so we are getting new stuff still! Here are the character posters for the villains Cottonmouth (Mahershala Ali), his cousin Mariah Dillard (Alfre Woodard) and Shades Alvares (Theo Rossi):
Fuller House is coming back sooner than I expected. Which is something I don’t mind since I had fun with that cheesefest. So yep, we are getting more of the Fullers on December 9! Well, I guess of all the many Netflix shows, this one must be one of the easies to make! Anyway, here’s a cheesy poster:
FRIDAY
Here’s the new Simpsons couch gag and it is parodying Adventure Time! In fact, Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward was involved in the opening, singing a version of the song with new lyrics mentioning Bart the Boy and a Dog named Homer~
The Doctor will cameo on Class, which it’s only logical since it is a Doctor Who spin-off series! The drama is set to premiere next month and our favourite Time Lord will appear in the first episode. In fact, the character’s cameo will segue nicely into the annual Doctor Who Christmas Special that will air in December. Just a refresher, Class is about several students from Coal Hill Academy, a regular Doctor Who place, who will experience time travel and extraterrestrial activities. Fun times!
Talking about doctors, here are the Empire Magazine covers (both regular and subscribers’) for Doctor Strange! In one, Stephen Strange is doing some magic, and in the other, we can see Strange and his Squad~
Finally, apparently Benedict Cumberbatch thought he had lost that Marvel gig when there was a scheduling conflict between Doctor Strange and the Hamlet play, which he couldn’t bail out because he has giving his word, dammit! I get it, dude. I do. But things turned out for the best and Doctor Strange went from a summer 2016 release to an autumn 2016 release. I do love happy endings!
