The Fangirly Diary of a Geek Girl: All your lists are belong to us!

Greetings, my fellow geeks. So the world didn’t end, and I get to show you my favorite lists of all those that have been popping up all through the week (and there’s been a lot!). Of course, we have lots of geeky news too!

SATURDAY

Let’s start with hobbity news~ OMG the last production video! So bittersweet!

Also a visual effects featurette, because I love those.

Oh yeah, the Peter Jackson cameo in The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey? As a dwarf in Erebor, running away from Smaug. Well, this gives me an excuse to watch the movie again. Not that I need one~

Talking about dwarves, here’s an interview with Aidan Turner, who plays Kili, the young hot dwarf. So, why did he get to keep his hotness?

Because I’m just too damn pretty! No, seriously, I did wear prosthetics in the early days but it made me look too old. So I got away with a sliver of fake nose and a mere 90 minutes in hair and make-up, whereas the other dwarves were coming in at three hours.

He is, indeed, too damn pretty!

Found a couple of interviews with Benedict Cumberbatch. In the first one, the poor deluded man hopes Star Trek Into Darkness won’t make his private life less private. In the second one, among the Star Trek talk, Benny also says he’ll never be “too big” for Sherlock. Aww.

Whatever ominous feelings the trailer might give you, according to James Badge Dale, Iron Man 3 is more like a dark comedy. That’s kinda awesome. I did love Shane Black’s Kiss Kiss Bang Bang!

Talking about Iron Man 3, the star of the show, RDJ ain’t short in praise for Shane Black, Jon Favreau and Sir Ben Kingsley.

SUNDAY

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey kicked ass at the box office! Best December opening ever in US! So, ok, it didn’t break the $100 million mark, but apparently that’s too hard for December movies yet.

So yeah, not much news that day. I spent the rest of the day watching movie bloopers and catching up on The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

  1. aw man Marceline and Lizzie Bennet and all the geeky things

  2. Rodrigo says:

“Top Ten characters of the year by MTV! I like them all except for 3 and 8.”

What’s wrong with Matthew McConaughey (Magic Mike) and Ezra Miller (Perks)? Both were easily the best parts of the movies MTV ranked them. Is it because they’re not geek-friendly?

    • mirella says:

@Rodrigo, exactly XDDDDDD Also both were pretty “meh” for me.

      • Rodrigo says:

@mirella, Still better than nearly everyone in The Hunger Games. Considering this is MTV, I’m surprised they managed to ignore the people from The Hobbit (great film, btw) or Twilight (whom MTV sucks dick to).

Oh wait, it’s a Top 50 ranking. Joe (Looper), Silva (Skyfall), Bilbo (The Hobbit), Calvin (Django Unchained) are a bit too low in this last. And the likes of Snow White (Huntsman) and Arthur Kipps (The Woman in Black) shouldn’t be there, lol.

        • mirella says:

@Rodrigo, @Rodrigo, Yes about The Hobbit. I guess it was too soon for they to chose one character? I’m surprised about their lack of Twilight too even if I don’t give a fuck about that franchise :P

@Rodrigo, I would vote Ted off the Top10, push Silva up and kick Snow White out to include Theron’s Evil Queen instead.

        • Rodrigo says:

@amy, Speaking of voting people off the Top 10, Loki needs to be lower — Silva shits all over Loki literally as a villain — and I’d add either Joe or Cid from Looper.

      • Rodrigo says:

@mirella, Freeman’s Bilbo and a Twlight character appear lower in MTV’s ranking. But characters from Django Unchained are there and the film premieres on Christmas. I’m sure MTV has passes to see films in order to put them there.

@Rodrigo, Oh, I didn’t mean they mean they haven’t watched The Hobbit. Just that the buzz for those characters ain’t that hight yet, because they movie has only been there for a week. I’m guessing the lists is not only about MTV’s dudes personal favourites alone but also what generated more buzz on their sites. I guess while Twilight was a good buzz generator in MTV, the dudes doing the actual ranking didn’t like it that much XD
