Music Mondays: New Releases, Miguel Flies… sort of, and More!

Mayer Hawthorne is back with his brand of soulful R&B in the form of track Her Favorite Song. It’s definitely a progressive step in the right direction. Still holding true to his old soul, but bringing the production up to a different level and flavor.

Kelly Rowland returns with new music. Dirty Laundry [1]. Not totally impressive, but, hey, it’s Kelly Rowland and I will forever, and ever, and ever be in love with her voice and just her all around ferocity. So can’t do anything but love her by default.

IAMNOBODY remixed one of my favorite songs from one of the most gorgeous vocalists of our time. Amel Larrieux’s For Real has become a love song staple for fans for the past decade, and this remix just adds a new dimension of beauty, sensuality, and class to the classic [1].

Another one of my new favorites, CharlieRED, decided to take on a song from an artist that will always resonate with me, Ms. Amy Winehouse. They decided to pay homage to the late vocalist with their rendition of her song Me & Mr. Jones.

My favorite tweet of the week came from, who else, Chance The Rapper. Though not exactly music news, the tweet just made me smile!

I don’t even care! The single most adorable thing in the world!

Paste Magazine dropped a couple bits of intriguing news today. First up, The Rolling Stones are set to release three albums on Clear Vinyl [1]. Count ’em, THREE Rolling Stones classic albums being re-released on the Clear Vinyl label! The online magazine then dropped the bomb that Eric Avery has decided to remove himself from the Nine Inch Nails tour. The details are not completely clear, but the former bassist and co-founder of Jane’s Addiction stated that he “just got overwhelmed.” Read the full article here.

Then the release that had my entire Tline blown up with spazz and faint and not-quite-sureness. Shinhwa, the veteran Kpoppers and probably the most respected oppas in the business, dropped their latest MV. Titled This Love, the MV is just… I can’t even describe it, actually. There’s just so much fierce! Granted, the whole “video in a box” trope is alive and kicking, but the dancing… THE DANCING!!! Just… you’ve got to see it for yourself.
