Madonna Teaches Us How to Do It~

Just looking at comments, I gotta start out saying “these young kids these days have no respect for their elders.” At the risk of sounding super old, which I’m not, seeing comments telling Madonna to retire for being old proves just how immature people are. She has just proved to all of us that age ain’t nothing but a number, and that at 53 years old she can perform live better than anyone in the pop music scene today [1].

Okay, I admit the Egyptian theme going on reminded me of Ayumi Hamasaki’s Brillante [MV] [MojVideo] for no other reason than the super black straight hair and the heavy makeup. I would still pick her Vogue performance of the VMA [1][2] over this one.

I also admit that the Music segment was just a bit awkward to watch, but then she went ahead and performed Give Me All your Luvin’ [MV] and I was game for it, which was great considering I LOVED when Cee Lo Green came on stage to accompany Madonna for Open your Heart, Express Yourself, and the big ending of Like a Prayer. THAT was epic for me. I was done for then.

I took it as a “Brit-brit, this was supposed to be you but since you are effing up, I gotta be back again.

Of course, I’ve been spoiled with Kpop military precision dancing and sticky pop music that just latches onto your brain. I did notice some imperfections in the performance, but it’s a commendable feature to be able to perform like this (a whopping 13 minute gig) after this many years off a stage. I’m sure Madonna’s gonna be aching for a whole week — if not a whole month — but it’ll be worth it.

She just taught us how it’s supposed to be done.

By the way, does any of you feel pop music in English — like SERIOUS pop music — lurking in the back of pop culture again? Like it wants back. It’s been years since the American pop music scene has made me feel like a teen in the 90s. LOL

In all honesty, there’s no use comparing any performance Madonna did after the 1990 VMAs to the performance she did at the 1990 VMAs. She’ll never do another one as good as that one and she never has. Not to say anythihng was bad, but that was just the end all be all of badassery.

@Camiele, I know it’s always unfair to compare people to what they did before, but you know an audience has the right to want their idols to be on top of their game. Madonna at the 90s VMA was… enthralling. You had to keep watching. That doesn’t happen in the pop music scene any longer.

@amy, You’re about right. And I heard (now this is just from a couple people and where I live I don’t put much stock into what people say about any performer, but anyway) that Madge’s performance at the SB was underwhelming at best. But, I didn’t watch it. So I don’t really have an opinion on it. The last half-time show I watched was when His Purple Paisley Badness performed. I think that must have been four years ago now… HaHa.

@Camiele, well… you can view the clip above. LOL At first it was underwhelming, but really stick around to the finish. That was fantastic.
