Amy’s Top50 Songs of 2012

5. Ga-In – Tinkerbell

I must admit, being the first song teaser from Ga-In’s latest album, Talk About S, it skyrocketed my expectations of the album with the sick guitar sounds and the infectious “Oh-aws” throughout the whole song that continue that teasing intro verse of “If I’m Tinker-Tinkerbell, would you be my Peter Pan?” — Listen to the whole track on Xiami.

4. Imogen Heap – Xizi She Knows

A year ago, Imogen Heap stayed in Hangzhou, China, for six months. And obviously, Imogen soaked in the cultural adventure to come up with this super blend of China meets the West in Xizi She Knows… from the album I’m still waiting for.

The “classic” Chinese number countdown done in school blends in the perfect futuristic development of a nation personified by Imogen’s staple sound and voice.

3. Studio Apartment featuring SU, ILMARI and Meisa Kuroki – Miss Universe (ミス ユニバース)

Early, VERY early in the year, Studio Apartment released this track from Nihon no Uta that earwormed into my brain and has stayed all year long despite some of the nonsensical English used in between… like “Let’s go! Bad medicine! Odottetaiwa!” Plus, Meisa Kuroki~ she “is so feeling” that she “is so fly” xD [1]

In fact, it’s interesting to note that my Top4 tracks were released early in the year and have moved little in their positions.

  2. GIACOMO says:

    is there a playlist?

    • amy says:

@GIACOMO, there isn’t… unless you count my iPod, since there’s no single place that has all the songs (in complete form). But I could try to put something together on YouTube

  3. Eri says:

Marina & The Diamonds, Mika Nakashima, Fiona Apple, B.A.P, Kaela Kimura, Regina Spektor, St. Vincent, Big Bang, G-Dragon, Sa Ding Ding, Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchstra, Singer Sen, Ga In, Imogen Heap, Meisa Kuroki, Sunny Hill, holy crap – Faye Wong, too!?? (she’s my fave chinese singer, followed by Sa Ding Ding, Singer Sen and Shang Wenjie tying for 2nd place) – you did it again! We’re like music twins! :)

[…] Not to be confused with Eamon’s F*ck It [Censored MV] [Uncensored Song] or Cee Lo Green’s F*ck You [LV], GaIn’s version gets rid of most of the irony and adds a whole lot of confused messages [pop!gasa]. I did like the instrumentalization right away, even though I don’t think it reaches the genius of Tinkerbell [1]. […]
