Amy’s Top50 Songs of 2012
30. Woodkid – Run Boy Run [YouTube]
29. Bareto – Óyeme
Following the line of La Nueva Invasión on #50, Bareto plays a type of Cumbia fusion that’s socially relevant, talking about the misadventures of living in the city of Lima. “Ya nadie cree en nada, ni de noche ni por la mañana. Ten cuidado cuando estés solito que te cae la mancha y te atraca, te quitan todas tus cosas, te dejan la cara borrada. Reclamas como un pelotudo, después no pasa nada. Óyeme, oye, en Lima no hay leyes. No sirven pa’ la gente.”
(Nobody believes in anything, not at night nor in the morning. Be careful when you’re all alone that the gang springs up on you, taking all of your stuff, leaving you marks on your face. You complain like an idiot, and nothing happens later. Listen to me, hey, there’s no laws in Lima. They don’t work for the people.)
You can get Ver lo que Quieres Ver on iTunes.
28. Hamacide + ChaCha – You Me
This track is hypnotic. You can support the Hamacide + ChaCha project on Bandcamp.
27. Kaela Kimura – MAMIRERU (マミレル) [Xiami] [YinYueTai]
26. Block B – NalinA [1]
You can get the track on Block B’s EP, Welcome to the Block, on iTunes.
25. LaLa Hsu – Not that Hard (不難) [YouTube]
You can get LaLa’s album, Ideal Life, on iTunes.
24. Chang Shilei – I Would Say to Them (对他说我愿意) [1]
23. Regina Spektor – All the Rowboats [1]
22. David Byrne and St. Vincent – Who
A collaborative album between David Byrne and St. Vincent. That is all. You can get Love This Giant on iTunes.
21. Jack White – Weep Themselves to Sleep [Xiami]
whoa you listened to a lot of music! Really liking the cumbia tracks.
@Diandra Rodriguez, I know! And somehow it still feels like it’s not enough xD Anyway, let me know what you think of some of the other tracks :)
@amy, yeah, sometimes you find a lot of the best stuff from one year in the next! I’m going to have to check out more stuff by Clover.
@Diandra Rodriguez, Clover has a couple of songs only… that I know of. La Vida Loca is all sorts of fun xD
is there a playlist?
@GIACOMO, there isn’t… unless you count my iPod, since there’s no single place that has all the songs (in complete form). But I could try to put something together on YouTube
Marina & The Diamonds, Mika Nakashima, Fiona Apple, B.A.P, Kaela Kimura, Regina Spektor, St. Vincent, Big Bang, G-Dragon, Sa Ding Ding, Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchstra, Singer Sen, Ga In, Imogen Heap, Meisa Kuroki, Sunny Hill, holy crap – Faye Wong, too!?? (she’s my fave chinese singer, followed by Sa Ding Ding, Singer Sen and Shang Wenjie tying for 2nd place) – you did it again! We’re like music twins! :)
@Eri, Oh you should def. check out track 28 on the list. I think you’ll love Hamacide’s track with ChaCha. And we do seem like music twins! xD
