A Personal Look at the TCM Classic Film Festival 2013
Saturday, I started the day bright and early at a screen of 1955’s The Ladykillers, introduced by SNL’s Bill Hader, who also hosts TCM Essentials, Jr.
I then saw Deliverance, which was introduced by director John Boorman and three of the film’s four main actors: Burt Renolds, Jon Voight and a hilariously angry Ned Beatty. This was followed by the world premier restoration of The Big Parade, introduced by Kevin Brownlow.
I then saw three more films in a row in auditorium six: The Desert Song, Flying Down to Rio, which was preceded by the 1965 short When Magoo Flew, and Island of Lost Souls, which was hosted by comedian Dan Gould. We even had a visit from the Warner Archive during this last midnight show.
Somewhere in there, I ate food. I swear.
I will look forward to seeing your interview. Thanks.
