There are a lot of movie all over the world, some left in distribution limbo, some others left unsubtitled, so this is my attempt at making some sort of comprehensive list of what I thought was great… with some surprises, like last year.
Remakes of well-loved movies are rarely greeted with wild enthusiasm. There is something to be said for an updated take on a classic though.

The first trailer for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was just released, in which we see the final battle and the destruction of Hogwarts.
Goblet of Fire follows Harry in his fourth year at Hogwarts, as he is mysteriously entered as one of the contestants in a special event known as the Triwizard Tournament, and things are set in motion for the return of You-Know-Who.
In Year 3, Harry Potter must go back to Hogwarts to course his third year in magical school, but after an angry outburst against the Dursleys and a chance encounter with a big black dog, he finds out a crazy dark wizard follower of You-Know-Who called Sirius Black is out to get him.
The King’s Speech is a throughly enjoyable movie about King George VI — not yet crowned then — and how he got through his stammering problem with the help of a very unlikely aid… and a lot of work.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 1 picks up right after the events in HP6. As Voldemort’s plans have been discovered by the general public, his group of Death Eaters must act quickly. Taking over the Ministry of Magic and creating chaos in and out of the Magical world, killing Muggles and making headlines in “our” world.
