The big screen adaptation of the Broadway musical Rock of Ages really is nothin’ but a good time.
The event of the week is the beginning of the Shanghai International Film Festival, starting on June 16th and ending the 24th, showcasing a broad variety of films… including A LOT of Japanese films in its different programs.
The Avengers and some more variety this week. And lots of Hiddles.
Rock of Ages follows waitress Sherrie Christian and busboy Drew Boley who fall in love during the rock music era of the 1980s.
The Romantics tells the story of a group of college friends who get together for the wedding of their friend Lila. However, tensions arise as Laura also had a thing with the groom.

I was really excited about this movie and it lived up to my expectations and then some. I read the books a few years back and while I am a fan of Alan Moore, and it is certainly a thoughtful and complex work, the original graphic novel left me a little cold. I respect it and enjoyed it, but it was more of a detached fascination then any real affection for the characters.
This new issue has reviews on the Tokyo! Michel Gondry-related project, as well as Maria Larsson’s Everlasting Moments, Watchmen, and a lot of music… including an article on why international artists need to record music in English~
