We’re already more than halfway through 2014, so it was time to revisit my favorite movies of last year.
There’s our first brief look at Koreeda’s latest film, which will be competing this week at Cannes Film Festival, about a man who has to choose between the boy he raised as his son and his real son.

The event of the week is the beginning of the Shanghai International Film Festival, starting on June 16th and ending the 24th, showcasing a broad variety of films… including A LOT of Japanese films in its different programs.
The Borrower Arriety tells the story of 14-year-old Arriety, out in the garden when she sees the arrival of Sho, a 12-year-old boy with a heart condition, who immediately spots her and wants to establish a friendship with her.
