This year was the festival’s 20th anniversary, so it was supposed to be a good one. Looking at the movie list, I must say that they didn’t disappoint. There was a great mix of movies from all over the world, although Africa was underrepresented and Asia got a bigger representation.
Al Sur de la Frontera, al Oeste del Sol tells the story of Hajime, who meets with a childhood friend he hasn’t seen in the last 25 years. Her name is Shimamoto, and Hajime is contemplating leaving his wife and daughters to be with her.
Socrates in Love is about the tragic young love of Sakutaro and Aki, and it was, apparently, very well-received by the public in Japan because of its theme.
On this YAM, we’ve got reviews on Inglourious Basterds, Mother, Treeless Mountain, Luck, Honookaa Boy. We also comment on a lot of albums, including G-Dragon, Arashi, Big Bang, Imogen Heap, BackStreet Boys, Olafur Arnalds… and Chang Shilei. Alongside playlist suggestions by more c_music!!!
Created by Ryan Murphy, Popular premiered on The WB back in September 1999, starring Leslie Bibb and Carly Pope as two nemeses with PMS at Kennedy High. Filled with snarky humor, Popular wasn’t just another teenage drama – it mocked the genre and itself.

Showtime’s drama The L Word aired its last episode weeks ago, but what has the show left? The season was pretty messy, as it introduced a new storyline in 3/4 of a season, and it never wrapped anything up.
