Based on Thomas Hardy’s classic novel Tess of the D’Urbervilles, Trishna tells the story of one woman whose life is destroyed by a combination of love and circumstances. Set in contemporary Rajasthan, Trishna (Freida Pinto) meets a wealthy young British businessman Jay Singh (Riz Ahmed) who has come to India to work in his father’s hotel business.
Trishna is It is Winterbottom’s third Hardy adaptation, after Jude and The Claim, and its set for a July release.

I’ve been ‘disappoint’ with Pinto. She’s been mostly a miss ever since Slumdog. Actually, I don’t recall any “hit” coming from her since then…

@amy, You are very correct, she has been doing sucky stuff. I think this is supposed to be her somewhat “comeback” to the lime light but I doubt it. Tess is such a hard story to get right, I have seen very few actresses that can manage to do a good interpretation.
