The Suicide Shop Trailer

Europeans have always been accused of having a dark sense of humor — more specifically, the French. This type of animation can only be French.

Based on the book of the same name by Jean Teulé, The Suicide Shop — or Le Magasin des Suicides — tells the story of a distressed world that has already forgotten the successes of the 21st century, losing all hope to live. We are so depressed that the most thriving of store is The Suicide Shop, where people shop for a variety of products to off themselves.

The shop is run by the Tuvache family, who go mournfully about their business, taking pride in the morbid service they provide. Until the youngest member of the family threatens to destroy their contented misery by confronting them with something they’ve never encountered before: a love of life.

The adaptation of The Suicide Shop, directed by Patrice Leconte, opens in France on May 16th.
