The Perks of Being a Wallflower Trailer

The trailer for the film adaptation of Stephen Chbosky’s debut novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower premiered last Sunday during the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. For those who didn’t watch MTV last night, here’s the trailer.

Perks tells the story of Charlie (Logan Lerman), a shy high school freshman reeling from a terrible loss, who finds his place with fellow misfits Sam (Emma Watson) and Patrick (Ezra Miller). They advise the hopeful writer on the finer points of growing up, which includes doing drugs and standing in the bed of a speeding pickup truck.

The cast also includes Nina Dobrev, Paul Rudd, Melanie Lynskey, Dylan McDermott, Kate Walsh, and Mae Whitman. John Malkovich serves as one of the film’s producers. Chbosky himself adapted his novel into a screenplay and also serves as the film’s director.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower premieres on September 14, 2012.
