Everyone who’s seen a Wong Kar Wai film knows how beautifully unique the visuals are. If you haven’t had the pleasure yet, you should definitely take the time to get acquainted with them.
While many of his latest films have been romantically linked dramas, this one looks to be something new for the director: a martial arts biopic.
The Grandmasters tells the story of martial arts master “Ip Man”, the man who trained Bruce Lee. It stars Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Ziyi Zhang, and Chen Chang — all of whom have previously worked with the director.
The Grandmasters will be released in 2012 in China.

definitely looks cool. I’m not sure which film festival might premiere a “wet print” of it – Cannes or Venice?

@Diandra Rodriguez, Venice would sound likely… or maybe Berlin. Cannes might be too “late” but I can see it going to Cannes being WKW and everything.
Have you guys seen Ip Man? Not artsy, but definitely KICK ASS.

I’ve seen various parts of Ip Man on the TVs at a tea place. Pretty fun. I’ve had it on my to-watch list but, when I borrowed it from the library, I was too busy to watch it before returning it.
