The Awakening Trailer

Overwhelmed by the loss and grief of World War I, people find answers in the inexplicable, while Florence Cathcart (Rebecca Hall) tries to expose the hoaxes. She’s hired by Robert Mallory (Dominic West) to explain sightings of a child ghost at a boarding school.

The cast is rounded out by Imelda Staunton, Lucy Cohu, John Shrapnel and Richard Durden.

The trailer makes it seem like a huge mix of The Devil’s Backbone, The Others, maybe a little The Orphanage with a dash of science… and a bit Are You Afraid of the Dark?Anyone remember the dollhouse episode?

The Awakening premiered today at the Toronto Film Festival, and is set for a November 11th release in the UK and Ireland.

I usually don’t even look twice at these kind of ghost movies but this looks very intriguing because it looks more like a psychological thriller with a big twist at the end.

@Castor, I know right? But I don’t wanna build my hopes too much in case… xD I prefer spooky horror above gore, so I’m happy with this. Plus, Rebecca Hall as a lead ~ we never get to see that, so it’d be interesting to check how well she holds herself on screen the whole time.
