Sion Sono’s The Land of Hope Teaser

Sion Sono, the Japanese director behind cult hits like Suicide Club, Love Exposure, and Cold Fish, and who last year released Himizu, has released a teaser for his latest movie, The Land of Hope (希望の国, Kibou no Kuni), set for an autumn release in Japan.

The Land of Hope follows Yoichi (Jun Murakami) and Izumi (Megumi Kagurazaka), a couple who lives in a village as humble dairy farmers alongside Yoichi’s parents, Yasuhiko (Isao Natsuyagi) and Chieko (Naoko Otani), until an immense earthquake strikes the country and evacuation begins.

With doubts about leaving, Yoichi finds out his wife is pregnant and must do whatever it takes to protect her and his unborn child.

A possible prompt UK release date is also expected, since Third Window Films are credited as co-producers.
