Saving Mr. Banks Trailer

Apparently the author of the Mary Poppins series, P. L. Travers, wasn’t very happy with the Disney adaptation. She’s joined by a string of other authors who haven’t been happy with the adaptation of their work: Roald Dahl with the 1971 version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Michael Ende with the adaptation of The Neverending Story, and Roald Dahl (once again) with the adaptation of The Witches.

In Saving Mr. Banks we follow Disney’s version of “the untold” story of the making of their now-classic Mary Poppins, as P.L. Travers (Emma Thompson) arrives in L.A. to discuss with Walt Disney (Tom Hanks) himself the creative process of making a live action of her property. Things don’t go as smooth as they were planned, but magic happens and puppies and rainbows appear in this family comedy drama that’s set to melt frozen hearts on Christmas.

The Saving Mr. Banks cast is rounded up by Paul Giamatti, Jason Schwartzman, Kathy Baker, Rachel Griffiths, Ruth Wilson, and Colin Farrel as P.L. Travers’ father.

The film is set to open in mid-December for the Holiday season.
