Ryan Murphy’s The Normal Heart (2014) Trailer

Ryan Murphy’s third attempt at film directing will take place on television and deals with the screen adaptation of Larry Kramer’s Broadway play The Normal Heart. You can watch the trailer below.

After seeing a friend succumb to a new disease killing gay men at the offices of Dr. Emma Brookner (Julia Roberts), Ned Weeks (Mark Ruffalo) seeks to organize more action to combat it, even as his bluntness threatens to alienate people around him including his brother Ben (Alfred Molina), his lover Felix (Matt Bomer), and Bruce Niles (Taylor Kitsch), a closeted investment banker.

The cast also includes Alfred Molina and Joel Grey as well as including actors who previously worked with Ryan Murphy such as Jonathan Groff and Denis O’Hare and actors who previously worked in the 2012 theatrical run of The Normal Heart with Jim Parsons once again reprising his role of Tommy Boatwright while Joe Mantello (who played as Ned Weeks before) now plays as Mickey Marcus. Brad Pitt serves as one of the film’s executive producers while Larry Kramer is behind the screenplay.

The Normal Heart will premiere on HBO in the USA on May 25, 2014 in order to be eligible for the upcoming Emmy Awards.
