Puss in Boots Trailer 2

Here’s the trailer for Puss in Boots, a prequel film that stars Antonio Banderas as the main character and takes place before the events of Shrek 2. The prequel’s story centers on the swashbuckling cat and how he comes to meet Shrek and his friends, while introducing new characters.

Along with Banderas, the cast includes Salma Hayek as Kitty Softpaws and Zach Galifianakis as Humpty Dumpty, while Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris play Jack & Jill, the main antagonists of the film. The rest of the cast includes Walt Dohrn (Shrek Forever After), Zeus Mendoza (Days of our Lives) and Constance Marie (George Lopez).

Puss in Boots premieres on November 4, 2011.

I liked Puss in Boots back when Shrek 2 came out, but I don’t know man… a whole movie with it? I don’t think I can take it…

@amy, Puss and Donkey were the best parts of Shrek, both Banderas and Murphy even shined in the Shrek films of lesser quality.

The past of Puss hasn’t been explored, so that’s one way for Dreamworks to make cash at the expense of the Shrek franchise. Still, I expect this to get mixed reactions from critics. And I highly doubt that Galifianakis could perform at the level of Murphy’s Donkey, his character looks silly already to begin with.

Maybe the Puss film could be better than Shrek 3 and 4 (wouldn’t be that hard to do so), but it’s very hard to see it topping the first two.
