Michael Dudok de Wit’s The Red Turtle Trailer

I can tell, I can tell I’m gonna cry~

Studio Ghibli and Wild Bunch got together way way back when Hayao Miyazaki apparently showed Wild Bunch head, Vincent Maraval, the Academy Award winning Best Animated Short, Father and Daughter [1], and asked him to get him the director.

La Tortue Rouge (The Red Turtle) is a dialogue-less film that follows the major life stages of a man deserted on a tropical island.

The film will premiere at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, next week on May 20th. It’s expected in French theaters on June 29th, and Japan in September this year.
